OpenAI has released a new guide to assist teachers in effectively using its AI chatbot, ChatGPT, in the classroom. The guide includes suggested prompts, explanations of ChatGPT's operation and limitations, information on AI detectors' effectiveness, and discussions on biases. "We’re releasing a guide for teachers using ChatGPT in their classroom -- including suggested prompts, an explanation of how ChatGPT works and its limitations, the efficacy of AI detectors, and bias," stated OpenAI in a blog post.

OpenAI, the operator of the generative chatbot ChatGPT, has been fined 3.6 million won ( ₹2.32 lakh) by South Korea's Personal Information Protection Commission (PIPC) for exposing personal information of 687 South Korean citizens on 27 July. The exposure occurred due to a bug in an open-source library on ChatGPT, which caused the inadvertent visibility of payment information, including names, email addresses, the last four digits of credit card numbers, and credit card expiration dates of ChatGPT Plus subscribers.

Google says it’s rolling out its AI-powered chatbot Bard across Europe and in Brazil, expanding its availability to hundreds of millions more users

Suumit Shah, the CEO of e-commerce startup Dukaan, faced huge flak online after a post of him replacing 90 per cent of his customer support team with an AI chatbot went viral on Twitter. Taking to Twitter on Tuesday, the entrepreneur revealed that he decided to prioritise prompt customer service and profitability over everything. He wrote that the use of AI tools reduced wait time from one minute, 44 seconds to instantaneous. Customer support costs were cut down by 85 per cent. “We had to lay off 90% of our support team because of this AI chatbot. Tough? Yes. Necessary? Absolutely,” the entrepreneur, while presenting his case, wrote on Twitter. He also wrote about how his team developed an AI chatbot named Lina which generated instant answers to customer queries and also curated customised answers for clients. In one sweep, he claims that Dukaan was able to remove communication bottlenecks such as delayed, generic responses and also cut down costs.. “200 live chats and ~1400 support tickets have been marked as 'resolved' by Lina. I literally started feeling like Edward Morra from the movie 'Limitless' is running the entire customer support of Dukaan by himself, seriously,” he wrote. The post went viral on Twitter, amassing two million views and 2,545 likes, and counting. However, it also generated much outrage across the Internet as was expected.

AI healthcare realm has taken a significant leap with its Med-PaLM 2 tool now having entered the testing phase at the Mayo Clinic research hospital in the US. This technology, an enhanced version of the PaLM 2 AI language model introduced at this year's Google I/O, aims to answer medical queries and facilitate conversations on health-related matters. According toThe Wall Street Journal, the tool has been in use since April and is expected to be especially valuable in regions with limited access to healthcare professionals. Med-PaLM 2 is the result of training the language model on a curated dataset of medical expert demonstrations, which Google believes will enable it to outperform generalised chatbots like Bard, Bing, and ChatGPT when engaging in healthcare conversations. Google's research, which the company made public in May, was also mentioned by The Verge, showing that Med-PaLM 2 still suffers from some of the accuracy issues which generally persist in large language models.
