Emergency crews were trying to lift the bus back onto its wheels to see if any more victims were trapped underneath it, said William Nthladi, a spokesperson for the city's Ekurhuleni Emergency Management. It had been transporting people from the township or Katlehong, east of Johannesburg, officials said. Nthladi said he also couldn't give details on the extent of the injuries sustained by the people who were hospitalized. The driver was among those taken to the hospital.

Uber on Tuesday said it has tied up with Refex Green Mobility to deploy 1,000 electric vehicles across key cities by 2026, furthering its efforts to boost electric vehicles on its platform. The collaboration aligns with Uber's global objective of providing 100 per cent emission-free rides by 2040, the company said in a statement. The deployment will see electric four-wheelers onboarded onto the Uber platform across Chennai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Mumbai, it added. «Uber is committed to accelerating the shift to zero-emission mobility in India, and this partnership with Refex eVeelz is a significant step in that direction,» said Aditya Kapoor, Head, Supply and Electrification, Uber India and South Asia.

The residential market is also set to witness significant traction, with property prices in these peripheral areas expected to rise by 10-20% over the same period. “Hyderabad’s office market continues to mature, driving one-fifth of the demand and over one-fourth of the new supply across the top six cities in India during 2024. The city’s peripheral areas are set to enter a transformative growth phase, fueled by upcoming infrastructure projects and supportive government policies. The West Periphery micro-market, particularly areas like Kokapet, Neopolis, and Narsingi, is likely to witness heightened commercial activity, driven by price arbitrage compared to established IT hubs of Gachibowli and HITEC City, along with enhancements in metro connectivity,” said Arpit Mehrotra, Managing Director, Office Services, Colliers India.

H-1B visa applications has dropped significantly this year, according to local agents and consultancies in Hyderabad. The fall in demand comes as the US government has raised the application fee and implemented stricter filing rules. Hyderabad, known as a major hub for global technology companies, houses offices of several multinational firms such as Microsoft, Google, Amazon, Facebook, and Oracle. Arun Teja Bukkaparapu, who runs a consultancy in Hyderabad, told TOI's Nirupa Vatyam, «I have not even received a single call about H-1B filing until now.» He pointed out that increasing uncertainty over US jobs, along with a steep hike in the application fee from USD 10 to USD 215, has discouraged many potential applicants.
