Third Eye: Platform for promise, ‘Khatakhat’, ‘Fatafat’, and breathless team
Platform for promise Congress' promise of directly crediting ₹8,500 into the accounts of women heads of families belonging to the BPL category under its Mahalakshmi scheme has received mixed response in UP. Those doubting it have just one statement to offer: «it will just be like BJP's promise of transferring ₹15 lakh to the accounts of Indian citizens every year.» But goaded by their wives, some are ready to support the party. «Like we hoped for ₹15 lakh, let us, for a change, hope for this too,» said a voter. ‘Khatakhat’, ‘Fatafat’ Congress leader Rahul Gandhi using the word “khatakhat, khatakhat” to denote how people will receive money in their accounts after INDIA bloc comes to power has caught on among other Congress leaders and Opposition leaders like Tejaswi Yadav who have made it a part of their campaign speeches now. Congress’ Varanasi candidate Ajay Rai recently asked people to vote “khatakhat, khatakhat” for him on June 1 and added if done, he would get their work accomplished “fatafat, fatafat, fatafat”.

China's 'One Person, One File': Road to digital totalitarianism
One Person, One File" (OPOF) mass surveillance program represents an escalation of China's efforts to create a ruthless digital censorship. Under this prospective system, Shanghai aims to triple its deployment of facial recognition cameras, compiling exhaustive personal data files on every single resident, China experts told ET. It encapsulates the Chinese Communist Party's remorseless efforts to strangle human freedom through Orwellian levels of technology-enabled social control. OPOF is more than just another Benthamite panopticon surveilling the watch. It is an attempt to construct an omniscient digital surrogate for every Chinese citizen — an individualized file encoding each person's relationships, activities, behaviors and very existence into ones and zeroes for the Party's domineering oversight, according to China experts

Govt directs telcos to block incoming international spoofed calls
telecom operators to block all incoming international spoofed calls that display Indian mobile numbers, an official statement said on Sunday. The Department of Telecom (DoT) said that it has been reported that fraudsters are making international spoofed calls displaying Indian mobile numbers to Indian citizens and committing cyber-crime and financial frauds. Such calls appear to be originating within India but are being made by cyber-criminals from abroad by manipulating the calling line identity (CLI) and have been misused in recent cases of fake digital arrests, FedEx scams, drugs or narcotics in courier, impersonation as government and police officials, disconnections of mobile numbers by DoT or TRAI officials, etc. «DoT and Telecom Service Providers (TSPs) have devised a system to identify and block such international spoofed calls from reaching any Indian telecom subscriber. Now directions have been issued to the TSPs for blocking such incoming international spoofed calls,» the statement said.
