Allahabad High Court on Thursday allowed a scientific survey at Gyanvapi Mosque by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). The Allahabad High Court's decision dismissed a Muslim body's petition which had challenged a lower court order asking the ASI to perform the survey to determine if the 17th-century mosque was built over a temple.

Masjid Committee moved Supreme Court on Thursday challenging the Allahabad High Court's order allowing ASI to conduct a scientific survey of the Gyanvapi mosque premises. Advocate of the Masjid Committee mentioned the matter before the apex court saying not to allow ASI to carry out the survey.

New Delhi: The standing committee on communications and IT has said in its report on citizens data security and privacy, tabled in Parliament on Tuesday, that the digital personal data protection (DPDP) bill should be the main legislation for data handling and privacy and should be enacted into a law at the earliest to safeguard citizens' data and their privacy. “The Committee, in no uncertain words stress the urgent necessity for the early enactment of a robust and all-encompassing legislation that effectively safeguards citizens' data and privacy," it said.
