Cooper Citizens Banner country Sikh Sikh Leader Canada says it suspects India involved in Sikh leader murder
Canada said on Monday it had credible information linking Indian government agents to the murder of a Sikh separatist leader in British Columbia in June and said it had expelled a senior Indian intelligence official. The announcement marks a significant worsening of bilateral ties at a time when India is already unhappy that Canadian authorities are not cracking down on Sikh protesters who want their own independent homeland. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said any involvement of a foreign government in the killing of a Canadian citizen was «an unacceptable violation of our sovereignty». Hardeep Singh Nijjar, was shot dead outside a Sikh temple in Surrey, British Columbia, on June 18. Nijjar supported a Sikh homeland in the form of an independent Khalistani state and was designated by India as a «terrorist» in July 2020, India's The Tribune newspaper said. «Canadian security agencies have been actively pursuing credible allegations of a potential link between agents of the government of India» and Nijjar's death, Trudeau said in an emergency statement to the House of Commons. «Canada has declared its deep concerns to the top intelligence and security officials of the Indian government. Last week at the G20 I brought them personally and directly to Prime Minister Modi in no uncertain terms.» The Indian high commission (embassy) in Ottawa did not respond to requests for comment. New Delhi said last week that Modi had conveyed strong concerns about protests in Canada against India to Trudeau. Canada has the highest population of Sikhs outside their home state of Punjab in India, and the country has been the site of many demonstrations that have irked India. Canada is home to one of the largest overseas communities of Indian

Cooper country Maharashtra puts curbs on sugarcane supply to other states
Maharashtra government has restricted sugarcane farmers from selling their produce outside the state in a bid to ensure that there is enough cane for the state's mills to run at maximum capacity. Erratic rainfall has led to a drought-like situation in Maharashtra, the country's second-largest sugar producer, and it is likely to see a big drop in sugarcane yield. Lower availability of cane leads to competition among sugar factories for the crop, resulting in mills poaching cane in each other's jurisdiction. Farmers prefer to sell sugarcane to the mills that pay higher prices. The Maharashtra State Cooperative Sugar Factories Federation, also known as Sakhar Sangh, had written to the state government on the need to take measures to ensure availability of sugarcane for the state's sugar mills.

Cooper CEO country beautiful Nykaa AGM: CEO Falguni Nayar sees India's rise as third largest consumer market globally by 2030
Nykaa parent FSN E-Commerce Ventures' CEO Falguni Nayar has predicted India's emergence as the third largest consumer market globally by 2030, asserting she is «excited» about what the future holds for Nykaa, according to a release. Nykaa, in a joint venture with GCC's retail conglomerate Apparel Group, would open its first international store before the end of 2023, the release said, adding that Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) offers a large Beauty and Personal Care (BPC) market size of over USD 30 billion and as a region is in its early-stage journey of ecommerce adoption. India's entrepreneurial spirit, as well as young and aspirational population makes it the «best place» to build consumer focused businesses and brands, Nayar said at the FSN Ecommerce Ventures' Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2023, according to a release. Noting that India's per capita Beauty and Personal Care (BPC) consumption is likely to grow, the company said «this presents a significant opportunity for Nykaa», which already enjoys an annual consumption value of USD 80 per capita, over 5 times the national average. «India has quickly become the most preferred destination for many global brands to meet their growth ambitions...By taking an unconventional technology-first approach, we were able to disrupt and democratise both demand and supply for the industry while reaching over 98 per cent of the market,» Nayar said in her speech. Nayar said almost one-third of the GMV contribution in FY23 came from the newer businesses, with all of them being built from scratch over the last 4 to 5 years.

Investors and traders should consider a cautiously bullish stance on crude oil. The recent 30% increase from June's low of $71.60 to the current $93 suggests upward momentum, but it may be limited, potentially reaching levels around $106-110 in the next six months, offering a 10-15% upside, Jateen Trivedi, Vice President, Research Analyst at LKP Securities said. Kim's extended tour of Russia's far eastern region, which began Tuesday, has focused extensively on military matters, with his own entourage dominated by officers, a symbolic exchange of rifles with Putin and a tour of a fighter jet factory in Komsomolsk-on-Amur. Before departing, TASS said Kim had been given five explosive drones, a reconnaissance drone and a bulletproof vest as gifts from a regional governor. The Russian agency said the «leader of the DPRK received five kamikaze drones and a 'Geran-25' reconnaissance drone with vertical takeoff», using the official name of North Korea. TASS said the governor of the Primorye region, which borders China and North Korea, also «offered Kim Jong Un a set of bulletproof protection» and «special clothing not detectable by thermal cameras». Later on Sunday the Ria Novosti agency published a video of Kim's departure, and said a «departure ceremony» was held at the Artyom-Primorsky-1 station. Footage shows Kim waving goodbye from his train to a Russian delegation led by Natural Resources Minister Alexander Kozlov, before the Russian march «Farewell of Slavianka» is played as the train departs. The official TASS news agency said that Kim's train was headed around 250 kilometres (155 miles) towards the border.
