Indian Biogas Association (IBA). Biofuel alliance can be a win-win situation for G20 countries and the environment, IBA said. According to a study by the IBA, the biofuel alliance can generate opportunities worth USD 500 billion in the next three years for G20 countries. The findings of the study assume significance as India is currently hosting the G20 leaders' Summit in New Delhi.Biogas can generate an opportunity of USD 200 billion, considering the least investment required, compared to other energy generation options and easy availability of raw materials, it stated.

Earlier on Saturday, US President Biden highlighted the significance of the India-Middle East-Europe Corridor and affirmed the United States' commitment to collaborating with its allies to support the development of sustainable and robust infrastructure while prioritizing high-quality infrastructure investments.

While committing to support developing countries in dealing with food security challenges, the New Delhi Leaders’ Declaration on Saturday expressed commitment to facilitate open, fair, predictable and rule-based global agriculture, food and fertiliser trade.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday held meetings with his counterparts from the UK and Japan on the sidelines of the ongoing G-20 summit here, with trade and investment being the key focus of talks. However, the much-awaited trade and investment pact with the UK looked to face further delays, going by the statements of Modi and British prime minister Rishi Sunak after their bilateral meeting.

G20 Leaders' Summit hosted in the national capital, according to a report published by the news agency ANI. The Heads of State of countries including UAE, Bangladesh, Egypt, China, Australia, UK, Argentina, Indonesia, France, Germany, Netherlands, Turkey, Japan, Italy, Spain, South Africa, Republic of Korea, Canada and Singapore will depart from Delhi on Monday. This is the second visit of Prime Minister Meloni to India following her State visit in March 2023, during which bilateral relations were raised to the level of a Strategic Partnership. Prime Minister Modi appreciated Italy's support for India's G20 Presidency and Italy's joining of the Global Biofuel Alliance and the India — Middle East — Europe Economic Corridor. The two leaders noted with satisfaction the completion of 75 years of establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. They also took stock of the progress in diverse areas of the India-Italy Strategic Partnership, and agreed to bolster cooperation in areas like defence and new and emerging technologies. G20 Declaration has welcomed the 'G20 Framework for Systems of Digital Public Infrastructure', recognising the role of DPI in the delivery of services at a societal scale, and underlined the commitment to work together to promote cooperation on international governance for Artificial Intelligence (AI). Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar described the Declaration as a «tremendous achievement». «India's #G20 Presidency is going to leave an indelible impression on the world order as we move forward,» Chandrasekhar, Minister of State for IT and Electronics, said in a post on X (earlier Twitter).

India launched the Global Biofuels Alliance on Saturday with Prime Minister Narendra Modi urging G20 nations to join the initiative with a plea to take ethanol blending with petrol globally to 20 per cent. Industry body CII in a statement said that the Global Biofuels Alliance (GBA) will accelerate sustainable biofuel deployment and support the global energy transition. GBA will spawn international cooperation especially among agriculturally endowed countries for furthering the goals of inclusive and green growth. India's net carbon zero goal of 2070 will also receive a fillip, it opined.

Narendra Modi and his British counterpart Rishi Sunak on Saturday agreed to continue to work at pace towards a «landmark» free trade agreement (FTA) during their bilateral meeting on the margins of the G20 Leaders' Summit in New Delhi. A readout from 10 Downing Street of the meeting said that cooperation in the field of defence technology, innovation and some consular issues were among the topics on the agenda of the meeting. Prime Minister Modi is also said to have highlighted the «warm reception» that Sunak has received during his first visit to India as British Prime Minister. «The leaders had a productive conversation about negotiations on a UK-India Free Trade Agreement,» a Downing Street spokesperson said. «The Prime Minister [Sunak] reiterated the UK's ambition to deliver a landmark trade deal which benefits businesses and workers in both countries and grows our trade in both goods and services. They agreed that ministers and negotiating teams would continue to work at pace towards an FTA,» the spokesperson said. Sunak, who arrived here on Friday, held talks with Modi after the first session of the G20 Summit. Earlier, Sunak greeted Modi with a namaste as the latter received him at the venue.
