PM Modi urges people to buy 'Made in India' products during festive season
Made in India' products during the forthcoming festive season that will last nearly two months and includes Navratra, Dussehra, Diwali, Chhat and other occasions where cheap articles made in China have been flooding the market in the last few years. In his monthly 'Mann ki Baat' address, the PM said, «Friends, in this festive season you can once again reiterate your old resolves. Anything you buy, should necessarily be 'Made in India'… Anything you gift, that too should be 'Made In India'. Merely buying earthen lamps is not 'Vocal for Local'. You should promote local products made in your area more and more. Any such product, that has been made with the sweat of an Indian artisan, that is made on Indian soil, is our pride — we always have to lend glory to this pride.» His remarks come against the backdrop of China-made idols of gods, decorative lights and other products which come at a low cost but eat into the market of indigenous products. Modi also referred to the completion of a decade of the 'Make in India' initiative where all segments, from big industries to small shopkeepers have made a contribution to its success.

Government bond yields likely to soften further by end of the fiscal
Government bond yields are likely to soften further by the end of the fiscal, leading to an annualised savings of Rs 1,000-2,000 crore for the exchequer. Higher demand, especially from foreign portfolio investors, would help yields remain tamed, economists said, pointing to North Block’s second-half borrowing calendar published last week. The Centre’s gross borrowings for the second half of the fiscal have been fixed at Rs 6.61 lakh crore with the borrowing target for the entire fiscal being maintained at Rs 14.01 lakh crore, the central bank said last week. About 77% of the bond issuances will be for 10 years or higher tenure. «Given the favourable global and domestic backdrop, we expect a further downward bias in domestic yields, leading to a steepening bias in the yield curve,» Bank of Baroda economist Aditi Gupta said.

Harris or Trump — Who is favouring skills over college degrees for federal jobs?
Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump may disagree on numerous issues, but they’ve both recognized the value of apprenticeships and trade schools as viable alternatives to traditional four-year college degrees. Both political figures are advocating for policies that encourage young Americans to pursue these routes to well-paying jobs, as mentioned in a report by USA Today. Recently, Kamala Harris announced her intent to reduce college degree requirements for federal jobs and urged private-sector employers to do the same if elected. Speaking in the working-class town of Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, Harris emphasized the need to recognize the value of different career pathways beyond the conventional college route.
