COST Reuters economy Boeing show country British retail sales grow in August after washout in July
British retail sales partially recovered in August after a rainy July washout, official figures showed on Friday, adding to signs that the country's consumers were mostly coping with the cost-of-living squeeze. Sales volumes rose by 0.4% on a month-on-month basis after a sharp 1.1% fall in July, the Office for National Statistics said. Economists polled by Reuters had forecast a slightly stronger 0.5% rise in August. While sales overall remained subdued, the partial recovery was driven by food sales and a strong month for clothing, Heather Bovill, deputy director for surveys and economic indicators at the Office for National Statistics (ONS), said. «These were partially offset by internet sales, which dropped slightly as some people returned to shopping in person following a very wet July.

COST Provident awards Healthcare cover hospital patient Here’s why doctors should consider professional indemnity insurance
Magsaysay award winner Dr Ravi Kannan is credited with leading the widely admired Cachar Cancer Hospital and Research Centre in Assam. He started with a staff of 23 people and this grew to 451 over a period of around 17 years, providing free or subsidized cancer care treatments to an average of 5,000 new patients annually. While Kannan serves as a shining example for all and brings an aura to the medical profession it deserves, the healthcare profession is not without its challenges. A large urban population has increasingly come around seeing healthcare as a consumer service. Much like with every other sector, consumer expectations are rising from healthcare as well. Small unfulfilled expectations now lead to court complaints and litigation against doctors. Courts have concurred that a section of people are prone to sue doctors and hospitals at the slightest opportunity.

COST IPO Southern performer track recommendations Vaibhav Jewellers IPO opens for subscription. Should you invest?
Analysts are mixed on the IPO mainly due to the competitive nature of the industry in which the company operates. «We advise investors to wait and watch the performance of the company once the stock is listed and then take a call,» said Avinash Gorakshakar of Profitmart Securities while recommending an «Avoid» rating. However, StoxBox said the company's product catalogue, stronghold in the southern markets and a good track record are some of the key positives driving the company's future prospects. «The pricing looks attractive vis-à-vis its peers as it values MVGJL at 11.7x of its FY23 earnings. We, therefore, recommend a SUBSCRIBE rating to the issue,» it said. Vaibhav Jewellers is one of the earlier entrants in the organised jewellery retail market of Andhra Pradesh and continues to focus on regional expansion into the high-growth untapped regions within the micro-markets of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. About 77% of its retail showrooms are in tier-2 and tier-3 cities and the rest are in Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam catering to urban consumers. The IPO comprises a fresh issue of Rs 210 crore and an offer for sale (OFS) of up to 28 lakh equity shares.
