MUMBAI : The News Broadcasters Federation (NBF), a lobby group of national and regional news broadcasters that collectively represents over 300 TV news channels, has addressed a letter to Anurag Thakur, the Minister of Information & Broadcasting, highlighting its members’ apprehensions regarding the suspension of weekly ratings for the news genre. The letter, a copy of which was accessed by Mint, alleges that a group of broadcasters is making attempts to get the news channels’ ratings suspended.

Top exporter Saudi Arabia last week extended its voluntary production cut of 1 million barrels per day for another month to include September, and Russia said it would cut oil exports by 300,000 bpd in September. «The latest recovery is mainly driven by the pledge of major producers, like Saudi Arabia and Russia, to keep supply subdued for another month,» said Charalampos Pissouros, senior investment analyst at broker XM. Brent crude was up $1.00, or 1.2%, at $87.17 by 1110 GMT, having touched $87.24, the highest price since April 13.

However, on demand of various states, GST on fertilisers was reduced to 5 per cent.

Pakistan court refuses instant relief to Imran Khan; rejects his request to suspend sentence
Pakistan's jailed former prime minister Imran Khan's bid to get his conviction suspended in a corruption case did not succeed on Wednesday as the Islamabad High Court adjourned the hearing but assured him that his case would be decided in four to five days. Khan, 70, was sentenced to three years in prison by an Islamabad trial court on Saturday in the Toshakhana corruption case in which he is accused of profiting from selling expensive state gifts when he was in power.

Suzlon Energy has approved launching qualified institutional placement to raise up to Rs 2,000 crore. The QIP will be of Rs 1,500 crore, with an oversubscription option of Rs 500 crore. «The securities issue committee of the Board has decided to undertake qualified institutions placement of equity shares to an extent of up to Rs 1,500 crore, with an option to retain oversubscription of up to Rs 500 crore,» the company said in a filing.
