China removed Foreign Minister Qin Gang from his post on Tuesday after a one-month absence from public duties, replacing him with his predecessor Wang Yi, state media said, after weeks of speculation about what had happened to him. Qin, 57, who only took up the job in December after a brief stint as envoy to the United States, had not been seen in public since June 25 when he met visiting diplomats in Beijing.

New Delhi: India reported a modest 21 fresh covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, continuing the trend of declining numbers observed for several months, according to Tuesday’s data from the union health ministry. Brics (Brazil-Russia-India-China-South Africa) grouping in Johannesburg late on Monday, Doval conveyed India’s position, reported Hindustan Times. New Delhi: India may need a minimum of 1.32 million charging stations by 2030 to facilitate the rapid adoption of electric vehicles (EVs), according to a report released by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) on ‘Charging Infrastructure for Electric Vehicle’. The report said the fervent support for electric vehicles from both the central and state governments has led to increased consumer options and awareness, contributing to an exponential surge in EV uptake during 2022, showing a remarkable threefold increase compared to the preceding year.

Piyush Goyal and Leader of the Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge on Tuesday exchanged barbs at each other in the Rajya Sabha over the debate on Manipur, with Kharge demanding the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Goyal saying atrocities on women in opposition-ruled states will also be discussed in the House. The opposition raised an uproar from the start of the Question Hour when the House met at noon, with members of the Congress and other like-minded parties raising slogans «Manipur, Manipur». Kharge said over 50 members have given notices for discussion on the Manipur issue under rule 267, but the government is not ready. Goyal countered him by saying Union Home Minister Amit Shah is ready to have a discussion on the issues related to atrocities on women in Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Telangana and West Bengal. «The home minister is ready for that… he would do 'doodh ka doodh' and 'paani ka paani' (differentiate between truth and lies), » he said. Kharge also questioned the absence of Modi in the House.

Suzlon Energy on Tuesday reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 101 crore for the quarter ended June as part of its Q1 earnings. It was down 96% from Rs 2,433 crore reported in the corresponding quarter of last year. On a sequential basis, the net profit declined 64% from Rs 280 crore clocked in the preceding March quarter.

Jubilant FoodWorks, which owns Domino’s pizza franchise in India and a few other countries, on Tuesday reported a 25.5% year-on-year (YoY) drop in its standalone June quarter profit at Rs 75.2 crore but its EBITDA margin improved 97 bps sequentially. During the quarter, the pizza-seller reported a 5.6% YoY rise in its revenue to Rs 1,309.7 crore. Its profit after tax (PAT) margin improved by 195 bps sequentially to 5.7% while EBITDA margin came in at 21.1%, higher by 97 bps sequentially.

Bidhannagar Police on Monday got custody of a high-flying thief, Nadeem Qureshi in connection with a two-year-old burglary at Sourav Abasan in Salt Lake, TOI reported. Qureshi, 45, has committed as many as 1,200 odd burglaries across 14 states over 25 years. The burglar king owns properties worth crores in Mumbai and Pune, the police said.

Congress hit back at Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday over his remarks targeting the opposition alliance, with Rahul Gandhi saying «call us whatever you want» but «we are INDIA» and will rebuild the idea of India in Manipur. Speaking in the Rajya Sabha, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge said while «we are talking about Manipur, which is burning», the prime minister is «talking about East India (Company) and saying INDIA means East India (Company)». Later, in a tweet in Hindi, Kharge said, «While we are talking about Manipur, the prime minister, outside the House, is calling 'INDIA' as 'East India Company'. The Congress party has always been with 'Mother India' i.e. 'Bharat Mata'.» «The slaves of the British were the political ancestors of the BJP. Prime Minister Modi, stop diverting the attention of the country with your rhetoric. Narendra Modiji, speak about Manipur in Parliament, do not belittle the dignity of the post of prime minister by calling INDIA, that is Bharat, good or bad,» the Congress president tweeted. Modi slammed the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) as the most directionless the country has ever seen and cited reviled names, such as East India Company and Indian Mujahideen, to assert that people cannot be misled merely by the use of the country's name. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi said the prime minister told a BJP Parliamentary Party meeting that the conduct of the opposition has been such that as if it has decided to stay in the opposition for long.
