markets Experts War country With Assad challenged, a push to cut Syria's ties to Iran grows more unlikely
Israeli bombardment, while behind the scenes, the United States and Gulf countries courted him diplomatically. It was a secretive, two-pronged approach meant to pressure Syrian President Bashar Assad to abandon his most important regional alliance with Hezbollah and Iran. The overtures to Assad were the product of what Israel and its allies saw as a rare but risky opportunity: With Iran's regional network fracturing under Israeli attack, they hoped to force Iran's most important partner out of the alliance, according to former U.S. officials, two European diplomats and four Israeli officials who spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the subject. Now, those regional ambitions may be derailed by a far smaller and long-discounted force: Resurgent rebels have launched a surprisingly successful attack in Syria, exploiting in part the strain Israel has put on the alliance that helped Assad maintain power through more than a decade of uprising and civil war. In a matter of days, the rebels seized most of the country's large city of Aleppo, and challenged Assad's grip on the country's northwest.

markets Analysis economy Food Trade Experts country RBI’s December policy preview: On the horns of a dilemma
RBI has largely been following a data-driven and evidence-based approach in its pursuit of a contextually relevant Policy, a Policy stemming from the concerns at the time of formulation and an attempt to arrive at judicious Policy prescriptions. With an uncanny ability to connect the dots and draw meaningful inferences, it is not difficult to predict the shape of things likely to come as I have done repeatedly for the last several years. But this time is different, the choices are not so stark and we are confronted with the cognizable Shakespearean dilemma of “to be or not to be”. No wonder, then, opinion about the Policy move is divided: some believe that a rate cut is necessary to shore up a flagging economy; others maintain that given the ravages of the inflationary spiral, an unchanged rate would best serve the objectives of the central bank.

markets UPS Analysis Trade President country rights Indian market to emerge as a safe haven amidst EM turbulence, says Geoff Dennis
«Korea has been a very weak market this year. It is down about 19% in dollar terms within the EM index and so this is just more pain for the Korean market and we will have to see how the politics plays out,» says Geoff Dennis, Independent EM Commentator. This morning we have woken up to those kind of news coming in from South Korea wherein, of course, there was that Martian law that was put on, then it was taken off. Now, there is news of impeachment, a lot going on as far as the Extraordinary General Meeting of the Central Bank in South Korea is concerned. But it begs the question whether India is one of those safe havens of sort where there is political stability, where there is economic stability, while even countries like, of course, China, South Korea, West Asia, and all of that are going through their own turmoil. Does that make India stand out as one of the best opportunities right now? Geoff Dennis: Oh, yes, it does.

markets UPS FIVE Booking Strategy Trade country Buy Adani Group stocks on dips, remain bullish on large banks, NBFCs: Deven Choksey
Deven Choksey, MD, DRChoksey FinServ Pvt. Ltd, says the assets the Adani group owns, whether it's in power generation, distribution, or even things like roads, airports, data centers, and ports, all have huge growth potential ahead. They've built up a solid capacity and are reinvesting a good chunk of cash flow back into the business, which is a smart move. They might tweak their growth strategies a bit, but using their free cash flow to fuel future expansion in these areas would be a great idea. The recent drop in stock prices is a solid buying opportunity for investors. Adani stocks fell and they have recovered. Can we ignore the news and just move on? Deven Choksey: From day one, I have been making a viewpoint that fundamentals do not change because of whatever the allegations have come up from the Department of Justice in the US court. In my viewpoint, the fundamentals remain strong. With Rs 85,000 crore EBITDA and growing at the rate of 20% per annum on a 2,40,000 crore debt, the balance sheet of the group itself is very solid with the cash flow generation that they have.
