US Visa Bulletin for February 2024: Check where you stand in the Green Card queue
This followed notable progress that was announced in the January Bulletin. For the fifth month in a row, USCIS will use the Dates for Filing to ascertain the eligibility of employment-based filings in February. Considering that the Final Action Dates chart typically contains more progressive cutoff dates than the Dates for Filing chart, this is great news. The Visa Bulletin provides important information about the processing of adjustment of status applications for consular immigrant visa files and approvals, as well as the per-country priority date cutoffs that control immigrant visa availability.

Arjun Ram Meghwal on Saturday said the Indian rupee has strengthened during the tenure of the Narendra Modi government. He also credited the role played by B R Ambedkar in taking on the then British rulers who tried to weaken the currency. Talking to reporters here after attending a seminar on the journey of the Indian rupee in the last 100 years, he said during the tenure of PM Narendra Modi, the Indian rupee has gained currency. He said 35 countries have agreed to allow the use of Indian rupee and people travelling there do not have to get it converted into local currency or US dollar. The Union minister pointed out that the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) was established in April 1935 following the thesis presented by Ambedkar in the London School of Economics on the Indian rupee. People should know that Ambedkar was also an eminent economist, he added.

Swedes spooked as government, military say to prepare for war
Sweden's government and military urging Swedes to be ready for war has triggered panicked buying, frightened children and a fierce debate in the Nordic country. While Sweden has contributed troops to international peacekeeping missions, the country has not been directly involved in an armed conflict since the Napoleonic era. The realities of war are therefore foreign to most Swedes. «There could be war in Sweden,» Minister for Civil Defence Carl-Oskar Bohlin told an annual defence conference on Sunday, warning Swedes against complacency. Days later, the sentiment was echoed by the commander of Sweden's armed forces Micael Byden, who showed pictures of burnt out and bombed houses from Ukraine. «Do you believe that this could be Sweden?,» Byden asked the audience, later explaining that the question was not a rhetorical one. "Russia's war against Ukraine is a step, not an end goal, for the ambition to establish spheres of influence and tear down the rule-based world order," he added. Ending two centuries of neutrality and military non-alignment, Sweden applied to join NATO in May 2022, in the wake of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, though its bid is currently held up by Turkey and Hungary. In early December, Stockholm and Washington signed a pact paving the way for US forces to operate in Sweden. Byden then went on to say that Swedes needed to «mentally prepare for war.» — Anxious children - The statements were widely spread by news outlets and social media. Subsequently, children's rights group Bris said it had seen a noticeable uptick in calls to its support hotline from children worried about the prospect of an impending war. «Many children already have a level of anxiety that was made worse by this news,»

'Attempt to conduct Ram temple ceremony will hurt PM Modi': Mani Shankar Aiyar
Narendra Modi's attempt to «personally conduct the consecration ceremony» at the Ram temple in Ayodhya will prove costly given the disapproval of the four shankaracharyas who have refused to attend the ceremony, said Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar. The former Union minister said it is beginning to show who is the «real Hindu» — one who knows the difference between 'Hinduism' and 'Hindutva'.
