rupee jumped 33 paise to settle at 83.00 a dollar, posting its biggest single-day gain in more than eight months. “Be wary of sudden drops that may follow persistent inability to clear 83.4. Slippage past 83.02 could expose 82.78, while pull back above 83.19 would restore upside bias," said Anand James, Chief Market Strategist at Geojit Financial Services.

Social capital can help close a wide MSME gap
In his inaugural address to the first Industrial Conference in Pune in 1890, Mahadev Govind Ranade noted that “the industry of the country is parched up for want of Capital" because after land revenue, a considerable portion of gross savings was used to hoard bullion. The lack of institutional arrangements for industrial finance meant that capital was locked up in unproductive assets and not available to India’s entrepreneurs. A century later, the German economic historian Dietmar Rothermund came to a similar conclusion.

Ministry road map soon for exporters to deal with CVD cases
India is likely to hold talks with the US to convince it about the compatibility of the Remission of Duties and Taxes on Exported Products (RoDTEP) scheme with global trade rules following Washington's imposition of countervailing duties on three items exported from India as retaliation against the scheme. Simultaneously, the commerce and industry ministry is drawing up a roadmap to work on the kind of documentation that needs to be maintained by Indian exporters to deal with anti-subsidy levies such as countervailing duty cases conducted by various countries on domestic products. The move follows the US' countervailing investigations on three Indian products- paper file folders, common alloy aluminum sheet, and forged steel fluid end blocks. The European Commission too has conducted a similar probe on certain graphite electrode systems from India.

Swiggy's 'collection fee' sparks dispute with restaurants
Swiggy's decision to charge 2% collection fee on all orders starting December 20 is an «unwelcome distraction», the country's leading restaurant body said on Sunday. The National Restaurants Association of India (NRAI), which represents over 500,000 companies across the country, also said restaurants will seek clarity from the food delivery platform in the coming days. «December is supposed to be the best month of business for us; for Swiggy to unilaterally come up with this suddenly in peak season is definitely an unwelcome distraction,» said Sagar Daryani, vice president of NRAI. Swiggy's move is «nothing but a way of indirectly increasing commission costs», alleged Daryani who is also founder and chief executive of Wow! Momo chain of restaurants. Swiggy did not respond to ET's email seeking comments till press time Sunday. The platform, in an email to restaurant partners, said it will charge a standardised 2% collection fee on all orders effective from December 20. «This fee is for facilitating seamless customer payments on the Swiggy platform.

Kaul’s recommendation was positively received by attorney general R.

Was CoP-28 a cop-out or did the conference achieve something?
how to apply it in practice. If there were some way we could agree on a fair share for every country in the global carbon budget, countries could be required only to live within this share, while being left free to determine how to do it. Net zero dates would be irrelevant.
