AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi on Tuesday said children should not grow up «glorifying criminal acts» in reference to Babri Masjid demolition being tweaked in NCERT textbooks. In a post on 'X', the Hyderabad MP said India's children should know that the Supreme Court called the demolition of Babri Masjid an «egregious criminal act». «The NCERT has decided to replace Babri Masjid with the words „three domed structure.“ It has also decided to call the Ayodhya judgement an example of „consensus.“ India's children should know that the Supreme Court called the demolition of Babri Masjid an egregious criminal act,» Owaisi said. Online gaming firms likely to be left in the lurch at GST Council meet
NEW DELHI : New Delhi: Online gaming companies hoping for relief from the GST Council on retrospective taxes adding up to ₹1.12 trillion may have to wait longer. The federal indirect tax body is unlikely to consider the industry’s plea during its meeting on Saturday, according to two officials informed about the council’s plans. Companies with games involving real money have been treading a tightrope after authorities last year issued 71 notices for evasion of good and services tax for the period prior to 1 October, when a 28% GST rate was specifically prescribed on the full value of deposits made by players.

Pakistan's ISI honey traps get hyperactive on Indian social media
Pakistan's Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) is running a brisk business of trapping Indian defence officials through spies who pose as beautiful girls to lure Indian defence officials. A large number of such cases have come to light in the past few years. Former BrahMos scientist Nishant Agrawal, who was sentenced to life by a sessions court in Nagpur on June 3 for leaking military secrets to Pakistan, is another prominent case of ISI honeytrap. Pankaj Awasthi, Uttar Pradesh ATS investigation officer, said in his deposition during Agrawal's trial that one 'Sejal' had set up a Facebook account from Pakistan. Using this, she chatted with Pakistani operatives and her Indian targets, including Agrawal, TOI has reported.

Gujarat Congress alleges GIDC land 'scam' in Bharuch; baseless, says BJP govt
Gujarat Congress on Monday alleged corruption in the process of allocation of land to industries in two GIDC estates in Bharuch, though the state government refuted the claims as baseless. In June 2023, the GIDC management had declared Saykha and Dahej estates as «saturated» zones, which required allocation of plots to be done only through public auction, but reversed the decision in February this year, Congress leader Shaktisinh Gohil told reporters. The Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation management declared the two estates as «unsaturated», which meant plots could be allotted at a fixed 'jantri' rate without the need for public auction, he pointed out. This was done to allot land at a throwaway price and thereby commit a scam of Rs 2,000 crore, Gohil alleged and sought an explanation from the BJP government in the state on the reversal of the June 2023 decision. He also sought an investigation into the issue by a sitting judge of the Supreme Court or the High Court as it had allegedly caused a massive loss to the state exchequer. «When a GIDC is declared as saturated, it requires sale of the remaining plots through auctions, which brings more revenue for the state,» the senior Congress leader said.

Had polls been free and fair, BJP would have won only 40 LS seats: Aaditya Thackeray
Aaditya Thackeray on Monday claimed the BJP would have won only 40 seats in the recently-concluded Lok Sabha polls if they were held in a free and fair manner. Addressing a press conference here, Thackeray also termed as «fraud» the result of the Mumbai North West Lok Sabha seat where Shiv Sena (UBT) candidate Amol Kirtikar lost by 48 votes to rival Ravindra Waikar of the Shiv Sena led by Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. «Our victory was snatched away by misusing the official machinery,» the MLA claimed. Thackeray said his party will move court with a petition challenging the Mumbai North West seat poll result.
