In a status report filed in the court on Thursday, the Delhi Police stated they had issued guidelines last year to deal with bomb threats to schools and an order deputing nodal officers for deployment of BDS in case of a bomb threat has also been issued. It said 120 mock drills were conducted in schools between January 1, 2023 and May 6 this year. Earlier, Justice Subramonium Prasad had asked police to give details of steps taken to ensure that school children are evacuated safely without panic in case of a bomb threat, with least dependency on parents. It had also sought data on the number of schools in each zone, the nodal authority concerned in each zone, the number of mock drills etc.

The PSU had sought directions to the CBI to register an FIR in matter which is now being investigated by the central probe agency by registering a preliminary enquiry. A preliminary enquiry is the first step by the agency to ascertain if there is prima facie enough material in the allegations to warrant a full-fledged investigation through an FIR or a regular case, they said. The plea was dismissed by the special court which said it does not have power to direct the CBI to register an FIR and investigate the case.

The federal agency made this claim as it produced the 74-year-old Alam, a Congress leader from Pakur, before the court of special Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) Prabhat Kumar Sharma. He was arrested on Wednesday by the agency here. The court sent him to six days of ED custody. The ED had raided Alam's personal secretary Sanjeev Kumar Lal and his domestic help Jahangir Alam on May 6 and recovered a total Rs 32.2 crore from a flat in the name of the latter person. The total cash seizure in this case is Rs 37.5 crore.

Enforcement Directorate Thursday told the Supreme Court it will soon file a prosecution complaint against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in a money laundering case related to the alleged excise policy scam. Appearing for the ED, Additional Solicitor General SV Raju told a bench of Justices Sanjiv Khanna and Dipankar Datta, «We are proposing to file the prosecution complaint (charge sheet) against Arvind Kejriwal and AAP. We will do it shortly. It is in the pipeline.» The statements were made by the ED during the hearing on Kejriwal's plea against his arrest. The Delhi chief minister was arrested on March 21 in the case.

Delhi High Court on Thursday sought the stand of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on BRS leader K Kavitha's bail plea in a corruption case in connection with the alleged excise policy scam. Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma issued notice to the CBI on the plea and listed the matter for further hearing on May 24 along another petition by Kavitha seeking bail in the Enforcement Directorate's (ED) money laundering case. The high court also issued notice and sought the CBI's response on another plea by Kavitha against a trial court order which allowed the probe agency to interrogate her in custody. Kavitha is in judicial custody in both the cases lodged by the ED and the CBI in relation to the alleged scam. She was represented by senior advocate Vikram Chaudhari and lawyer Nitesh Rana.

Alamgir Alam, who was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with a money laundering case, was remanded to the ED custody for six days, said lawyers on Thursday. The minister was produced before a PMLA court in Ranchi earlier today amid tight security arrangements. Alam was arrested after a six-hour interrogation by the federal agency at their office in the city on Wednesday.
