This adds to the series of troubles the edtech firm finds itself in since last year. Pai and Kumar’s contract ends on June 30 and they are not renewing the contract, people briefed on the matter said. Both Pai and Kumar joined the advisory council following Byju's investors–Peak XV Partners, Prosus and Chan Zuckerberg Initiative–leaving the board of the company last year.

AAP on Sunday said the Delhi Police has seized the DVR of CCTV cameras installed inside Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's residence in connection with its probe into the "assault" on Swati Maliwal and accused the cops of planting stories to tarnish the party's image ahead of the elections. Maliwal, an AAP Rajya Sabha member, has alleged that Kejriwal's aide Bibhav Kumar assaulted her on May 13 when she had gone to the chief minister's residence to meet him. Kumar was arrested on Saturday and produced in a court, which remanded him in five-day police custody.

An inter-ministerial taskforce to monitor and regulate social media ads is being established by the ministries of information and broadcasting, electronics and information technology, and consumer affairs, according to two people aware of the development.

Arvind Kejriwal’s aide, Bibhav Kumar, has been sent to five days in police custody following allegations of assaulting AAP Rajya Sabha member Swati Maliwal. The Delhi Police arrested Kumar on Saturday, and his anticipatory bail plea was subsequently declared “infructuous” by a Delhi court. The police allege that Kumar, Kejriwal’s personal assistant, assaulted Maliwal at the CM's residence on the morning of May 13. Kumar was produced before Metropolitan Magistrate Gaurav Goyal, who granted the police’s request for custody. The police, through their counsel, sought seven days of custody to question Kumar about the assault. They argued that Kumar did not provide his mobile phone password to the investigating agency and claimed that his phone had been formatted in Mumbai due to a malfunction. Police stated, “Before being formatted, the data of a mobile phone has to be cloned, and Kumar was required to be taken to Mumbai for retrieving the data.” They added that his presence was needed when his mobile phone is opened by an expert.

Tis Hazari Court on Saturday dismissed anticipatory bail plea of Arvind Kejriwal's aide Bibhav Kumar's in the ongoing Swati Maliwal's assault case. Earlier today, Kumar was arested by the Delhi police from the Delhi CM's residence. This comes after Kumar lodged a complaint with the Delhi police against Maliwal on Friday via email to the Station House Officer (SHO) of Civil Lines, accusing Swati Maliwal of physical assault, after a video purportedly showing Maliwal threatening Kumar.

D K Shivakumar and other state ministers on Saturday rubbished allegations about their role in the circulation of pen drives containing explicit videos involving Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna. BJP leader and advocate G Devaraje Gowda, who is in custody after being arrested in a sexual abuse case and is also facing charges of video leak, on Friday alleged that Shivakumar and four other ministers are behind the circulation of the pen drives and was being fixed in false cases as he did not agree to be part of their plan. He has even alleged that he was offered Rs 100 crore by Shivakumar to «bring a bad name» to the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and to tarnish the image of JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy in Prajwal Revanna's obscene video case. Speaking to reporters, Shivakumar said, «Better, let him (Gowda) file a case before Lokayukta or any other agency. I think he has some problems mentally. I'm very sorry, the national and state media shouldn't have picked up such baseless allegations. A person who is in jail, how can he make such allegations? All these are baseless. Supreme Court Collegium headed by Chief Justice of India (CJI) D Y Chandrachud has recommended to the Centre the names of two additional judges for appointment as permanent judges of the Gauhati High Court. The Collegium, also comprising Justices Sanjiv Khanna and B R Gavai, recommended that Justice Rajesh Sekhri be appointed as an additional judge of the Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh High Court for a fresh term of one year with effect from July 29, 2024. "… the Collegium resolves to recommend that Justice Susmita Phukan Khaund and Justice Mitali Thakuria, additional judges, be appointed as permanent judges of the Gauhati High Court against the existing vacancies," said one of the Collegium resolutions uploaded on the apex court website. It noted that the Collegium of the Gauhati High Court had unanimously recommended on April 1 the names of these two judges for appointment as permanent judges.

Crypto lender Genesis Global received court approval on Friday to return about $3 billion in cash and cryptocurrency to its customers in a bankruptcy liquidation, leaving its owner, Digital Currency Group (DCG), with no recovery from the bankruptcy. US Bankruptcy Judge Sean Lane approved Genesis' Chapter 11 liquidation plan and overruled an objection raised by DCG, which had argued that Genesis should pay its customers and creditors no more than what the crypto assets were valued at in January 2023, when Genesis filed for bankruptcy.

Sony Pictures Entertainment and Apollo Global Management have taken a significant step forward in their effort to court Paramount, three people familiar with the matter said Friday. The two companies have signed nondisclosure agreements with Paramount, allowing them to look at Paramount's nonpublic financial information, said the people, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss active negotiations. Paramount previously shared materials with another suitor, Hollywood studio Skydance.
