IT companies in Bengaluru urged to give 15 lakh employees WFH option as city grapples with water crisis
Now, many legal luminaries and water experts have also been suggesting the Karnataka government to encourage WFH measures till the city tides over the water crisis. Speaking at a recent event, Justice K Sreedhar Rao, former acting chief justice of the high courts of Karnataka and Assam, proposed a short-term solution of implementing work-from-home policies, particularly for the approximately 15 lakh IT workers in Bengaluru. Justice Rao reasoned that allowing work-from-home arrangements for a year could result in around 10 lakh people could result in around 10 lakh people returning to their hometowns, thereby alleviating some pressure on Bengaluru's resources. Justice Rao remarked that in the 1980s, the city's population was between 25 to 30 lakh, whereas now it has surged to over 1.5 crore. Even as the state of Karnataka faces three years of drought 2003-04, the impact wasn't felt as severely due to the lower population density at that time. He also suggested measures like desilting of lakes.

Bhojshala was Saraswati temple but both sides should abide by HC decision: Archaeologist KK Muhammed
Noted archaeologist KK Muhammed on Sunday claimed the contentious Bhojshala/Kamal Maula Mosque complex in Madhya Pradesh's Dhar district was a Saraswati temple and later converted into an Islamic place of worship. He stressed that Hindus and Muslims should abide by the court's decision and honour the Places of Worship Act, 1991, apart from sitting together to iron out differences over such places. Muslims should also respect the sentiments of Hindus over Mathura and Kashi, he said. Following directives from the Madhya Pradesh High Court, the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) is carrying out the survey of the disputed Bhojshala complex in MP's tribal-dominated district.

Arrest of Arvind Kejriwal to divert attention from electoral bonds scam: Kerala CM Vijayan
Pinarayi Vijayan on Sunday said the electoral bonds scam is the biggest corruption ever witnessed in India and added the BJP government at the Centre arrested his Delhi counterpart Arvind Kejriwal to divert attention from the same. Addressing the third consecutive rally organised here by the CPI(M) against the contentious Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA), Vijayan alleged the BJP-led Central government and the Sangh Parivar give scant regard to the rule of the law in the country. He alleged that the Sangh Parivar was trying to take control of the Constitutional institutions and even threatening the country's judiciary. «The Union government, BJP, Sangh Parivar, they all very well know that the Supreme Court order on the electoral bond scam was harmful to them. They wanted to divert the attention from this topic and for that they have arrested Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal,» Vijayan said.

Andrew Tate's lawsuit publicly names accusers, supporters threaten online
Andrew Tate have cast a long shadow over his reputation, with accusations of sexual assault stretching back over a decade. However, it's the controversial move of filing civil lawsuits against his accusers, where he publicly names them, that has stirred intense debate and condemnation. Advocates for the accusers argue that this legal tactic not only exacerbates the trauma experienced by the victims but also exposes them and their families to threats and harassment, as per a report in USA Today. 37-year-old Andrew Tate's staunch denial of the allegations against him, echoed by many of his supporters, underscores the divisive nature of the Romanian case. With both Tate and his fan-base vehemently asserting the innocence of the Tate brothers, tensions continue to escalate as the legal proceedings unfold. The fervent belief in Tate's exoneration reflects the polarization surrounding the case, with each side firmly entrenched in their respective convictions, the report stated.

Why the arrest of Kejriwal may have big consequences
There might be some people who think like this: India’s Enforcement Directorate (ED) is an independent investigative body that has gone after some key people in the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) purely to rid the nation of corruption. But I personally do not know a single person who thinks this.

UP Madrasa Teachers Associations to move Supreme Court against HC order
Allahabad HC declared the UP Madrasa Education Act «unconstitutional», the Madrasa teachers associations have decided to challenge the ruling in the Supreme Court following CM Yogi Adityanath's statement that the state government will comply with the court's order. The teacher associations have also urged an amendment in the act to suit it to the HC's observations regarding the quality of education, etc, instead of doing away with it completely. It has also suggested transfer of madrasas from the minority welfare department to the education department, as was the norm before 1996. The HC's order has cast a shadow of uncertainty over about 26 lakh students enrolled across various recognised and unrecognised madrasas in the state. The court's order also adds to another recommendation made by a Special Investigation Team to shut down over 8,400 unrecognised madrasas in the state. The UP board recognises 16,513 madrasas out of which 560 receive grants used to give salaries to teachers.

Trust could be the cornerstone for this election season
Courts across the country have been alluding to the word ‘trust’ a lot these days. Occasionally, they use the term directly. But even when they don’t, it’s presence can still be felt front and centre, especially when courts point to its deficit in public life or refer to its diminution in the social contract between citizens and various organs of the state.
