Trinamool Congress MLA Humayun Kabir has courted controversy by threatening to gherao junior doctors of Murshidabad Medical College and Hospital in Berhampore. Expressing his resentment over the «attitude of some junior doctors of Murshidabad Medical College and Hospital,» Kabir, the Bharatpur MLA in Murshidabad district said, «They agitate and protest in airconditioned rooms while the masses suffer on streets.» «I have come to know that an FIR has been lodged against me for my previous comments against junior doctors who were on cease work earlier this month. I am not scared. Let them take out a rally of 1,000 people. If I am sent to jail for my comments, once I am released I will take 10,000 people to gherao the junior doctors,» he told reporters on Saturday night. «Are these people fit to be called doctors?! Jammu and Kashmir elections approaches, Ghulam Ahmad Mir, the Congress candidate from the Dooru constituency, stated on Saturday that the Bharatiya Janata Party is unlikely to secure more than 10-12 seats in Jammu. Nirmala Sitharaman and several others following a court order related to the now-scrapped electoral bonds scheme. According to PTI, police confirmed on Saturday that an FIR was filed under relevant sections of the law. The complaint was lodged by Adarsh R. Iyer, Co-President of 'Janaadhikaara Sangharsha Parishath' (JSP), who alleged that the accused engaged in extortion disguised as the electoral bonds scheme, allegedly benefiting by over Rs 8,000 crore. The complaint further claimed that Sitharaman, with the covert assistance of Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials, facilitated the extortion of thousands of crores for the benefit of various individuals at both state and national levels. According to the complainant, cited by PTI, «the entire extortion racket under the garb of electoral bonds has been orchestrated hand in glove with officials of BJP at various levels.»

Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal, Himachal Pradesh minister Vikramaditya Singh said that they would be forming an all-party committee to issue designated vending zones in the state. Speaking to on Saturday, Singh said that the vending zones would be done following the instructions of the High Court as well as the Supreme Court. This came in the wake of a row over the mandatory display of the identity of street vendors in the state of Himachal Pradesh as announced by Singh on Wednesday, following which a meeting was called by Congress high command in the national capital on Friday.

Atishi launched a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party on Saturday calling the elections for the MCD standing committee held on Friday as «illegal, unconstitutional, and undemocratic.» She read out the Municipal Corporation Act of 1957 and said that the power to call an election only rests with the mayor. «The MCD election that the BJP has carried out is illegal, unconstitutional, and undemocratic. Our nation runs with the Constitution and with the rules laid out in the Constitution. The parliament had passed a law, the Delhi Municipal Corporation Act 1957. Under that act, there are a lot of rules, laws, byelaws with which the MCD runs,» said the Delhi CM during a press conference.

Supreme Court judge Justice Hima Kohli has advocated for a robust national climate law, saying the current environmental legislations are often fragmented and insufficient to tackle the complexities of climate change. Addressing an event on the topic «Climate Liability, Justice, and Jurisprudence» on Friday, she also said the top court's landmark judgment in the M K Ranjit Sinh case paves the way for strengthening India's environmental laws and integrating human rights into climate discussions. «There is a pressing need for comprehensive legislation dedicated specifically for climate change. India has several environmental laws in place, but they are often fragmented and sometimes found to be insufficient to address the multifaceted challenges posed by climate change. »A robust national climate law grounded in constitutional principles and aligned with international obligations is, to my mind, the way forward," she said.

MUDA scam, BJP National Spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari on Saturday alleged that both the "Gandhi family" and Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah has indulged in the corruption because if they were honest, then they could have removed Siddaramaiah from his post. Accusing Congress of corruption, Bhandari said that only "Operation Corruption" is being run by the Congress to loot as much of public money as they can. "Karnataka High Court didn't comment anything on HD Kumaraswamy, it commented against Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah that he has taken Rs 55 crore. He himself went to the Karnataka HC against the Special Court order. When HC gave him relief against the governor's sanction, they accepted it, but, now, when it said that he is corrupt, then he termed it as 'Operation Lotus'," Bhandari said.

Karnataka, seeking a CBI probe against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in connection with the alleged MUDA scam. Advocate Vasant Kumar, representing petitioner activist Snehamayi Krishna on Friday said that they have filed a writ petition and are seeking High Court directions to handover the case to the CBI to carry out a fair investigation in the writ petition. «Today we have filed a writ petition making appeal to direct to hand over the MUDA investigation to the CBI, it will come hearing on Monday. we have also referred in the yesterday's special court order in the petition, prima facie is that MUDA is a big scam, that's why we have requested the high court for the CBI inquiry in the case for the free and fair inquiry into the case,» Kumar told ANI.

Now I am very sure that my senior colleague, the finance minister, has also spoken about bringing fuel under GST on several occasions.» To enhance its energy security, India needs to focus on strategic petroleum reserves and prioritise exploration and production to reduce its heavy reliance on imported fuel.
