Tripura CM launches Chief Minister Jan Arogya Yojana for 4.15 Lakh families
health guarantee of everyone, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha launched the Chief Minister Jan Arogya Yojana (CM-JAY) on Thursday, a health insurance scheme that will provide coverage of Rs 5 lakh to 4.15 lakh families in the state. The launch took place at Netaji Subhas Vidyaniketan, Agartala, where Saha expressed that this initiative is a gift from the double-engine Government for the people of Tripura. “People who have not been covered under Ayushman Bharat or any other government insurance scheme will benefit from the Chief Minister Jan Arogya Yojana. Healthcare is now accessible and affordable to all. CM-JAY is a landmark step towards ensuring the health guarantee for everyone, enabling beneficiaries to receive medical benefits of up to Rs. 5 lakh," stated Saha.

Haldwani violence: Civil Court orders to confiscate property of nine miscreants
Haldwani Civil Court has issued orders to confiscate the property of nine miscreants, including Abdul Malik and his son, the alleged mastermind of the violence that broke out in Banbhoolpura town of Haldwani area following the demolition of an allegedly «illegal structure» as part of an anti-encroachment drive on February 8. The court has permitted the police to take action against all the accused under sections 82, and 83 of CrPC. Earlier on Tuesday, the civil court issued non-bailable warrants against all nine accused.

Congress regime’s second budget slated for Friday, hotels and restaurants are pressing the government for the industry status and easing out licensing challenges. An industry status like restaurants in Gujarat and neighbouring Maharashtra enjoy, would give them benefits in property tax and electricity tariffs. Only selected five-star hotels in Karnataka have received the status till date, South India Hotel Association president Shyama Raju told ET. “Hotels in Maharashtra got this status a few years ago…we hope that if the Karnataka government comes through, the rest of the south Indian states would follow suit,” Raju, who is the MD of Bengaluru’s Hotel Maurya said.

Panagariya chairs first meeting of 16th Finance Commission
16th Finance Commission (XVI-FC) on Wednesday held its first meeting under the Chairmanship of Arvind Panagariya here. During the meeting, the commission discussed its Terms of Reference, as per the order by the President of India and notified by the Ministry of Finance on December 31, 2023, an official statement said. The distribution between the Union and states of the net proceeds of taxes, which are to be, or may be, divided between them under Chapter I, Part XII of the Constitution and the allocation between states of the respective shares of such proceeds, are among the Terms of Reference (ToR) approved by the Cabinet. Another ToR is about the principles governing the grants-in-aid of the revenues of states out of the Consolidated Fund of India and the sums to be paid to states by way of grants-in-aid of their revenues.

UPSC Civil Services Exam 2024 is now open. The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) released the notification for the same earlier on February 14, with important information such as examination timings, number of vacancies, eligibility criteria, and examination pattern. According to the notification, there will be approximately 1056 vacancies this year, slightly less than 1,105 vacancies announced last year. Of the total vacancies this year, 40 are reserved for candidates with benchmark disabilities. These disabilities include blindness and low vision, deaf and hard of hearing, locomotor disability including cerebral palsy, leprosy cured, dwarfism, acid attack victims, muscular dystrophy, and multiple disabilities from amongst persons under the mentioned categories. However, the final number of vacancies may change based on the information received from Cadre Controlling Authorities.
