'Pookie police': Berhampur Police adds a playful spin to a picture of criminals, leaves internet in splits
Berhampur Police in Odisha has become a viral sensation, thanks to a clever and humorous twist in their social media post. The police had arrested four men accused of assaulting a father and son, but it wasn’t the news of the arrest that caught the public’s eye—it was the creative use of emojis in the accompanying photo. In the post, the faces of the accused were not obscured by the usual pixelation or blurring. Instead, the police used a series of emojis to add a humorous touch: one man’s face was covered by a pleading emoji, another had a disappointed one, and a third was marked with a frowning emoji.

Operation Nanhe Farishte: Central Railway’s RPF reunites 861 children with families
Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Central Railway has successfully reunited 861 children with their families as part of their ongoing efforts through “Operation Nanhe Farishte,” TOI reported. This initiative, covering the period from April 1 to October 31, has helped reunite 589 boys and 272 girls with their families. Central Railway’s chief spokesperson, Swapnil Nila, highlighted the critical role of the RPF in safeguarding railway assets, stations, and passengers. The force adheres to the Ministry of Railways’ Standard Operating Procedure for rescuing children, collaborating with various organisations to aid in child rescue missions under “Operation Nanhe Farishte.” A recent incident on November 7, 2024, demonstrated the RPF’s dedication. RPF officers Ishwar Chand Jat and R K Tripathi, while patrolling Khandwa station, noticed a young boy sitting alone on platform 4/5. Upon counselling, they found that the boy, named Sumit, had a phone number tattooed on his right arm. When they contacted the number, Sumit’s brother informed them that Sumit suffers from amnesia. After a medical evaluation, the child was placed in Navjeevan Balgrih’s care, with ChildLine representatives assisting until Sumit’s brother could arrive to take him home.

IIFCL plans subsidiary for issuance of asset backed securities
India Infrastructure Finance Company Ltd (IIFCL) is planning to set up a subsidiary to issue asset-backed securities (ABS) or covered bonds, as it aims to securitise its assets and conserve capital for further business growth. «We are almost reaching the threshold of asset size and loan book that we should have, and we may not really look at the quantum jump in asset size or loan book size. We may have a separate vertical to securitise our own assets,» IIFCL MD PR Jaishankar told PTI. «We will try to grow our assets and generate more assets with the help of the existing assets instead of taking more liabilities...the idea is that assets should beget assets incrementally. That will save the capital that will help our cost of funds go down, our profitability going up, and that will help improve our viability and quality of assets.» The idea is to hive off part of our assets, he said, adding, «We will maintain a threshold, and we will focus on increasing the sanctions and disbursements more as compared to growing the asset size or loan book size».
