Sanjay Shukla, who has quit the Congress and joined the BJP, and three others proposing a fine of Rs 140.60 crore for alleged illegal mining of 'murum' (mixed) soil and stones, officials said on Wednesday. The mining department has unearthed illegal mining in two places of 5.50 hectares and 3.40 hectares in Baroli village adjoining Indore in Madhya Pradesh, they said. A fine of Rs 140.60 crore is proposed to be imposed on Shukla and three others under the Madhya Pradesh Minerals (Prevention of Illegal Mining, Transport and Storage) Rules 2022 for this illegal mining, the officials said. Besides Shukla, the other respondents in the notice are his brother Rajendra Shukla, president of the Eden Garden Housing Cooperative Society Limited, and Baroli village resident Meharban Singh Rajput, they said.

On the other hand, the maximum recorded temperature in Gurugram was 33.2 degrees Celsius. And going by IMD's forecast for next week, there is not much respite for Bengaluru's residents from heat. The weather department has forecast that Bengaluru is expected to have a maximum temperature of 36 degrees Celsius over the next seven days and minimum of 22 degrees Celsius. On the other hand, Gurugram could have a maximum temperature of 32-36 degrees Celsius over next one week while minimum of 16-18 degrees Celsius.

Bhupesh Baghel was a «beneficiary» of the proceeds of crime raised through illegal Mahadev betting application, ED claimed that his associates «regularly received the proceeds». The charges have been made in a report, which is part of a 12-page FIR filed by Chhattisgarh Police against Baghel and 20 others. Last month, the state's economic offences wing filed an FIR against 20 accused under various sections of the Indian Penal Code in the alleged ₹5,500 crore Mahadev app case. «Baghel has been named by the promoters of Mahadev Online Book to be the beneficiary of betting funds. It has also been revealed by Chandrabhushan Verma (arrested ASI) that his OSD and political advisor were being paid proceeds out of Mahadev Online Book,» as per the FIR based on ED's probe.
