Digital payments major PhonePe has decided to discontinue its partnership with payment orchestration platform Juspay. Instead, the Walmart-backed company is opting for direct integration with merchants. This will also allow PhonePe to offer an integrated payment experience to its merchants from origination of the transaction to the final settlement. While PhonePe has been offering the direct integration service for quite some time now, going forward the company will stop all third-party integrations, a person in the know said.

This is in line with a 'New Credit Assessment Model' for small businesses, which Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had announced in her Budget presentation on July 23. Under the model, banks were required to assess small businesses based on their 'digital footprints' and not on their balance sheets. According to a report by IFC (International Finance Corporation), India's nearly 6 crore MSMEs contribute 31 per cent to the GDP, employ nearly 13 crore people, and make up 45 per cent of exports. Yet, despite being the backbone of the economy, they remain extremely credit-starved. The current addressable credit gap for MSME in India runs into a few lakh crore rupees.

Ola Electric, India's electric vehicle (EV) company, has announced a massive expansion of its distribution network, aiming to increase the count to 4,000 stores by December 20, 2024. This rollout, featuring over 3,200 new outlets alongside its existing 800 stores, is one of the most extensive EV distribution expansions globally, underscoring Ola's commitment to democratizing EV adoption in India. The expanded network will cover all pin codes in the country, making Ola Electric the largest EV distributor in India. All new stores will be equipped with co-located service facilities, further enhancing after-sales support for customers.

Delhi High Court on Monday sought the Enforcement Directorate's response on a plea of AAP leader Manish Sisodia challenging a trial court's order taking cognisance of a chargesheet filed in a money laundering case linked to the alleged excise policy scam. Justice Manoj Kumar Ohri issued the notice to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and fixed Sisodia's plea on December 20, when AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal's similar petition is also listed for further proceedings. The former deputy chief minister sought the high court's direction to set aside the trial court's order on the ground that the special judge took cognisance of the chargesheet in the absence of any sanction for the prosecution of the former Delhi chief minister, who was a public servant when the offence was allegedly committed. Sisodia is out on bail in the case.

Gautham, who works for a private firm, found the number of an escort, identified as Amrutha Gill, on a website called massagerepublic.com. Introducing herself by multiple names, Roopa, Kushi, and Sonia, the woman agreed to meet him for three hours at a cost of Rs 15,000.
