Khaunte said an influx of tourism in any destination brings with it a set of issues and concerns and the state is working with trade bodies to address issues around high rates in the year end season besides allaying concerns around public transportation. British writer Samantha Harvey's space-station novel 'Orbital' wins the Booker Prize for fiction
Samantha Harvey won the Booker Prize for fiction on Tuesday with «Orbital,» a short, wonder-filled novel set aboard the International Space Station that ponders the beauty and fragility of Earth. Harvey was awarded the 50,000-pound ($64,000) prize for what she has called a «space pastoral» about six orbiting astronauts, which she began writing during COVID-19 pandemic lockdowns. The confined characters loop through 16 sunrises and 16 sunsets over the course of a day, trapped in one another's company and transfixed by the globe's ever-changing vistas. «To look at the Earth from space is like a child looking into a mirror and realizing for the first time that the person in the mirror is herself,» said Harvey, who researched her novel by reading books by astronauts and watching the space station's live camera. «What we do to the Earth we do to ourselves.»

ET In The Classroom: Large-cap funds
fixed deposits should stick to large-cap funds as these schemes invest in companies with long track records and strong managements, which works well in the long term. WHAT IS A LARGE-CAP MUTUAL FUND? As per regulatory guidelines, a largecap company is a listed company ranked from 1st to 100th on the Indian stock exchanges in terms of market capitalisation. Hence for a fund house, a large-cap scheme needs to invest at least 80% of its corpus in large-cap companies, with the flexibility to invest the remaining 20% in other companies as per the discretion of the fund manager.

Is Crimea gone from Ukraine to Russia forever? Apparently, a Trump aide has conveyed this to Zelensky; here are all details
Republican strategist Bryan Lanza has recently spoken about this issue in an interview, claiming that Crimea is gone from the hands of Ukraine ad will now permanently be in Russian territory for the coming years, but if only one thing that will resolve this issue would be Zelensky coming to the table and drafting a 'resolution for peace'. The US government has never deployed soldiers to fight in Ukraine and Kyiv front and has has never asked American troops fight on its behalf. Instead, they have requested American military aid to arm its own soldiers, according to The Sun's report. New Visa payment features launched in US. What does it mean for customers?
Visa said on Tuesday it was rolling out a flexible payments feature in the U.S. and the United Arab Emirates, as it looks to capitalize on the growing demand for a variety of transaction options. The «flexible credential» feature, already available in Hong Kong, Japan, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam, lets customers use a single card to pay from different funding sources, the payments processor said. Customers are increasingly prioritizing convenience and flexibility in payments, especially as e-commerce flourishes, prompting companies to take proactive steps to maintain their edge in an industry being reshaped by digital disruptors.

Qatar picks QIA's Americas boss to run $510 billion fund
Qatar named Mohammed Al Sowaidi as the chief executive officer of its $510 billion sovereign wealth fund, which is set to acquire even more financial firepower in coming years. Al Suwaidi, who joined the fund in 2010, was most recently chief investment officer for QIA in the Americas region and helped establish a US office. He replaces Mansoor Al Mahmoud, who's led the entity since 2018 — longer than a typical four-year term. The QIA is the world's eighth-largest sovereign fund with around $510 billion in assets under management, according to consultancy Global SWF. It was founded in 2005 to handle the country's revenue from liquefied natural gas, of which Qatar is one of the biggest exporters.

Will men become extinct? Scientists warn the possibility is huge; cite this reason
testicle mutations' could eradicate men. Given that experts claim testicles are crucial in developing the DNA component, the Y chromosome has continued to deteriorate after 180 million years, leaving men's future uncertain. Because Y chromosomes are starting to fail, scientists warn that the male species may go extinct, as quoted in a report by the Daily Star. The X and Y chromosomes, which resemble threads and contain DNA and proteins in the body, determine a person's gender in both mammals and humans. Women have two X chromosomes, whereas men have X and Y. Despite making up only 4% of a person's DNA, they may have the greatest impact on their life.
