Channel 4 has decided to renew The Couple Next Door for a second season. Season 1 of the psychological drama saw strong viewership, making it one of Channel 4’s most popular scripted streaming shows. In its first week, the first episode drew over a million views, setting a record for the network.

Cast
The second season introduces new actors to the main cast. Sam Palladio, known for his role in Nashville, and Annabel Scholey from The Split, will play the lead roles. Aggy K Adams from The Witcher and Sendhil Ramamurthy from One Piece also join the cast. Hugh Dennis, familiar to viewers from Outnumbered, will return in a supporting role. Production has already started in Belgium.
Plot
The plot follows Charlotte Roberts, a heart surgeon, and her husband, Jacob, an anesthetist. The couple faces turmoil when a new colleague, Mia, moves into the house next door. Mia quickly becomes involved in the couple’s life, even forming a close bond with Jacob. Mia also befriends a neighbor, Alan. Charlotte’s past reappears in the form of an old flame, Leo. Tensions build as patients at the hospital start to die, raising questions about Mia’s true identity and intentions.
