The LoP in the Lok Sabha posted a video of himself trying out Kerala’s longest zipline in Wayanad’s scenic hill district, donning an “I love Wayanad” T-shirt. During the visit, he also jokingly challenged his sister, Priyanka Gandhi, to join him on the zipline in her saree. However, Gandhi praised the resilience of the people, noting that despite the challenges, they’ve worked hard to create new attractions, such as South India’s largest giant swing and a thrilling drop tower.

Beware! Indians biggest winners, but UK sounds warning on visa fraud
UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) department has issued a crucial advisory to Indian nationals applying for UK visas, urging them to stay vigilant against potential fraud. Scammers often impersonate officials, claim expedited visa processing, or request payments through unauthorized channels. UKVI emphasized that it will never reach out through social media, request payments by email or personal bank accounts, or guarantee visa approvals in exchange for third-party payments. All payments for UK visa services should be made exclusively via GOV.UK or its verified partners. Indian nationals emerged as the largest recipients of UK visas across Visit, Study, and Work categories for the year ending June 2024.

How social engineering scamsters have weaponized fear of the CBI, ED to defraud victims
New Delhi: S.P. Oswal’s ordeal began on the afternoon of 27 August, with an innocuous phone call. It was a pre-recorded message from someone claiming to be from the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai). Just out of hospital after battling an illness, the unsuspecting 82-year-old Oswal, chairperson of the Ludhiana-based Vardhman Group, pressed 9 when prompted. That keypress was a standard screening procedure by scamsters to ascertain the gullibility of their victims—Oswal, a Padma Bhushan awardee, instantly became a target.

SoftBank to get first new Nvidia chips for Japan supercomputer
SoftBank Group Corp. will be the first Nvidia Corp. customer to build a supercomputer based on the chipmaker’s new Blackwell design, a move to meet growing demand in a country eager to catch up in artificial intelligence. SoftBank’s telecom unit plans to build Japan’s most powerful AI supercomputer to support a wide range of local services, the two companies said Wednesday. That computer will be based on Nvidia’s DGX B200 product, which combines computer processors with so-called AI accelerator chips. A follow-up effort will feature Grace Blackwell, a more advanced version. Nvidia’s chips have become a prized commodity for the world’s biggest tech companies, which use the components to develop and run AI models. The process requires software to be bombarded with data — something accelerator chips are especially adept at handling.
