India’s top tech leaders call for creating awareness about ethical use of AI
This should be commensurate with awareness of responsible and ethical use of AI without curbing innovation, they said at the second edition of The Economic Times Digital Transformation Dialogues in Bengaluru, moderated by ET's Beena Parmar. The technology services world is moving towards the platforms and products operating model, which will increasingly rely «not on seniority or experience, but on your ability to deliver on your role,» said Sandhya Arun, chief technology officer at Wipro, which operates in an industry where revenue has traditionally been linked to the headcount. «A role itself has many tasks. If you break it down, some of those tasks will get automated, will get handed off to AI, but the role itself will transform as opposed to the role disappearing if you are doing something relevant such as impacting business value, delivering products ensuring quality and security,» Arun said. Because of this, Wipro is training its next gen, or young associates, to become full stack to work across frontend and backend of technology applications.

Indian space economy to reach $44 bn by 2033: FICCI-EY report
Indian space economy is aiming to reach USD 44 billion by 2033 from USD 8.4 billion in 2022, said a FICCI-EY report on 'Unlocking India's Space Economy — Pathways to Growth, Innovation and Global Leadership', released today at Bharat Space Conclave 2025', organized by FICCI. According to the report, the global space economy is projected to exceed USD 1.8 trillion by 2035, with commercial satellite services, deep-space exploration, and space-based infrastructure driving expansion. The report further states that India has set an ambitious target to grow its space economy from USD 8.4 billion in 2022 to USD 44 billion by 2033, aiming to capture 8 per cent of the global market. This growth is being fuelled by policy reforms, private sector participation, and increased international collaboration, supported by the Indian Space Policy 2023 and institutions such as IN-SPACe and NSIL. FICCI-EY report notes that a significant shift is underway, with India's space sector evolving from a government-led model to a commercially driven, innovation-led ecosystem. Satellite communication (SATCOM), projected to reach USD 14.8 billion by 2033, will play a critical role in expanding digital connectivity, particularly in rural and underserved regions.

Reliance joins the race! Jio signs deal to bring SpaceX's Starlink internet to India after Airtel's pact
Reliance Jio has announced a partnership with Elon Musk’s SpaceX to offer Starlink satellite internet services in India. The deal, however, hinges on government approval before SpaceX can begin operations in the country. Under the agreement, Jio will make Starlink equipment available in its retail stores and online platforms while also providing installation support. This collaboration comes after a previous clash between the two companies over spectrum allocation for satellite services. While Jio pushed for an auction, the Indian government sided with Musk’s preference for administrative allocation, in line with global practices. Jio’s announcement comes just a day after Bharti Airtel inked a similar deal with SpaceX. Airtel, which has a long-standing presence in satellite communications through its OneWeb project, is positioning itself to leverage Starlink’s capabilities. The two telecom giants are now set to compete not only in traditional broadband but also in the satellite internet space. Both deals are conditional upon Starlink obtaining government approval to begin operations in the country.

Earthquake of magnitude 4.1 jolts Tibet
earthquake of magnitude 4.1 jolted Tibet on Tuesday, a statement by the National Center for Seismology (NCS) said. As per the NCS, the earthquake occurred at a depth of 10km, making it susceptible to aftershocks. In a post on X, NCS said, «EQ of M: 4.1, On: 11/03/2025 12:39:06 IST, Lat: 28.52 N, Long: 87.40 E, Depth: 10 Km, Location: Tibet.» Shallow earthquakes like this one are more dangerous than deeper ones due to their greater energy release closer to the Earth's surface, causing stronger ground shaking and increased damage to structures and casualties, compared to deeper earthquakes, which lose energy as they travel to the surface.
