The movements of these bipedal robots were incredibly dexterous. It seemed almost too good to be true. And as the world later found out, it was: Tesla’s people were helping control the robot remotely behind the scenes. Musk’s robot is likely many years away from becoming a marketable household product. But multiple companies are testing human-form robots in warehouses and on factory floors, structured settings where the technology has a much better chance of succeeding in the near term. Humanoid robots being developed by Agility Robotics, Neura Robotics, Boston Dynamics, Apptronik, Reflex Robotics and others are more capable with each new version.

Rather than expressing sympathy, the manager’s reply asks the employee to “keep me updated on what time you’re expecting to be here.” This dismissive response was followed by another message a day later when the employee did not respond promptly. In it, the manager states that only a death in the family would be considered a valid excuse for missing work, implying the accident was not reason enough to stay away.

Directorate of Education (DoE) in Delhi has announced new guidelines aimed at introducing 10 bagless days in schools, designed to create a more joyful and stress-free learning environment for students. This initiative targets students in classes six to eight across both government and private institutions in the national capital. These guidelines were developed by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) following the recommendations set forth in the National Education Policy 2020.

Mirae Asset Mutual Fund has revised the exit load period of its five fund of funds (FoFs). The changes in exit load will be effective from October 30. The fund house stated these changes on a notice cum addendum. The exit load of four FoFs has been reduced to 15 days from the existing three months whereas for one fund, the exit load period has been increased from 5 calendar days to 15 days.

Paytm, operated by One 97 Communications, received approval from the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) to onboard new UPI users, lifting a regulatory freeze imposed on it earlier this year. This approval marks a significant development for the digital payments platform, which has been under scrutiny by regulators. Why was Paytm barred? In February 2024, NPCI restricted Paytm Payments Bank (PPBL), an associate entity of Paytm, from offering basic banking services citing compliance issues. This resulted in PPBL being barred from adding new users onto its UPI service. Eventually UPI payments moved from PPBL to Paytm where the latter became a third-party payment app. But the new user addition embargo was not lifted, and the application had been pending with the NPCI.

Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) team that came to his aid after he was rescued from the remote Ralam village in Uttarkhand’s Pithoragarh district following an emergency helicopter landing due to inclement weather and left stranded at over 12,000 feet. Ralam is a high Himalayan village and is typically deserted during winter. Despite this, three villagers — Ishwar Singh Nabiyal, Surendra Kumar, and Bhupendra Singh Dhakriyal — trekked over 38km through rugged terrain to reach Kumar, who was stuck without food or proper shelter. He was with two other poll officials and the pilot of the chopper. The villagers provided warm noodles and other essential supplies to the officials. They arrived at the village around 1:00 am after battling extreme conditions.
