S. Jaishankar held the 15th India-Japan Foreign Ministers' Strategic Dialogue with Yoshimasa Hayashi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan here on Thursday. They explored potential areas of collaboration in critical and emerging technologies, including semiconductors; resilient supply chains; and digital public infrastructure, among others. The meeting provided an opportunity to review the progress made in the India-Japan Special Strategic and Global Partnership. The Ministers engaged in comprehensive discussions covering a wide range of issues of bilateral, regional, and global significance. They highlighted the importance of further strengthening India-Japan partnership based on shared values and principles. The Ministers emphasized the importance of achieving the target of JPY 5 trillion Japanese investment in India in the period 2022-27.

NEW DELHI : The government will consider a production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme for the chemicals and petrochemicals sector as it strives to emerge as a manufacturing hub, Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman said on Thursday. “We are in favour of making India a manufacturing hub," Sitharaman said at the third edition of the Global Chemicals and Petrochemicals Manufacturing Hubs in India Summit organized by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (Ficci) in association with the ministry of chemicals and fertilizers . “We will be considering PLI for chemicals and petrochemicals," said the finance minister.

NEW DELHI : The parliamentary standing committee on finance, led by Jayant Sinha, on Thursday urged the Union government to finalise the digital competition bill at the earliest to check a slew of anti-competitive practices plaguing the digital markets. The committee in its report also said the Competition Commission of India (CCI) will need its entire workforce, and vacant positions to be filled, to ensure that the anti-trust regulator fulfils its statutory role.

Bank of Baroda (BoB) customers can now get car loans at a fixed interest rate linked to their credit profiles. The public sector bank today (July 25) announced the introduction of a fixed rate of interest on Bank of Baroda Car Loans. Borrowers will now have the option of choosing between fixed and floating rate of interest on Baroda Car Loans, based on their preference, the bank said in a statement.
