Congress president Kharge's comments on PM Modi absolutely distasteful: Amit Shah
Amit Shah on Monday described Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge's remarks on Prime Minister Narendra Modi at a public meeting in Jammu and Kashmir as «absolutely distasteful and disgraceful». Shah said «in a bitter display of spite», Kharge unnecessarily dragged the prime minister into his personal health matters by saying that he would die only after removing Modi from power. At an election rally in Jasrota in Jammu on Sunday, Kharge felt dizzy and uneasy but resumed his speech after a brief pause, saying he won't die before PM Modi is removed from power. Shah hit out at Kharge over his remarks.

Opposition can't reinstate Article 370: Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal
Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal has said that the Opposition can't reinstate Article 370 and accused them of misguiding the people of Jammu and Kashmir on this. «They (the opposition) can't bring it again (Article 370). They are just misguiding people; the way they did during the Lok Sabha elections by saying that we (the BJP) will finish the constitution. How can the Constitution be finished? Good governance and development--these are the two agendas, based on which we are contesting and will win this election,» Meghwal told reporters here. While Congress is silent on Article 370, its alliance partner, the National Conference, promised restoration of the Article in its manifesto.

Kamala Harris to be impeached ahead of US election 2024?
Donald Trump escalated his personal attacks on his Democratic rival, Kamala Harris, on Sunday by repeating an insult that she was “mentally impaired” while also saying she should be “impeached and prosecuted." Trump's rally Sunday in Erie, Pennsylvania, took on similar themes as an event one day earlier that he described himself as a “dark speech.” He told a cheering crowd that Harris was responsible for an “invasion” at the U.S.-Mexico border and «she should be impeached and prosecuted for her actions.” “Crooked Joe Biden became mentally impaired,” he added. “Sad. But lying Kamala Harris, honestly, I believe she was born that way. There’s something wrong with Kamala. And I just don’t know what it is but there is definitely something missing. And you know what, everybody knows it.”

US election 2024: This state is most important for Donald Trump in November 5 polls
Donald Trump held a rally in Pennsylvania on Sunday, his fourth campaign stop in a month in what has become the 2024 campaign's most hotly contested state. The former president had begun addressing supporters in Erie, in Pennsylvania's northwest corner, shortly after 2 p.m. local time (1800 GMT). His rally comes one month to the day after his running mate, U.S. Senator JD Vance, held his own event in the lakeside city, and six days before Trump is due to hold another rally in western Pennsylvania, on October 5. Many allies and informal advisers to Trump privately characterize Pennsylvania as the most important of the battleground states in the November 5 election.

Former UK prime minister Rishi Sunak tells Conservatives 'learn lessons' of defeat as party gathers
Rishi Sunak on Sunday urged his Conservative Party to «learn the lessons» of their crushing election defeat as it gathered to begin electing a new leader. The four-day meeting in Birmingham, central England, comes three months after the Tories were ousted from power by Labour, with Keir Starmer taking over as prime minister. «This is our first conference in opposition since 2009,» Sunak wrote in parliament's The House magazine.

Some Republicans distance themselves from Trump's attack on Harris' mental fitness
Republicans on Sunday sought to distance themselves from Donald Trump's latest insults of Democratic nominee Kamala Harris during a rambling weekend rally in Wisconsin in which he called her «mentally disabled.» Trump escalated his personal attacks on the vice president during a self-described «dark speech» on immigration following Harris' trip to the U.S.-Mexico border. "Joe Biden became mentally impaired," Trump said. «Kamala was born that way. She was born that way. And if you think about it, only a mentally disabled person could have allowed this to happen to our country. Anybody would know this.»

Kamala Harris, Donald Trump's fate to be sealed on Tuesday's Vice Presidential debate?
Donald Trump scrambled political norms. Democratic governor of Minnesota Walz made it to national prominence by labelling rival Republicans 'weird'. Republican junior senator from Ohio Vance has torn into Vice President Kamala Harris' party on immigration, notably by spreading a false story about Haitian immigrants in his home state that Trump then cited during his own debate with Harris. A nominee's choice of number 2 has historically made little Election Day difference. This year could be different.

PM Modi will face defeat of magnitude bigger than one he faced on June 4: Congress as J&K campaign ends
Jammu and Kashmir polls, the Congress on Sunday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has still not answered the most fundamental question as to why he «failed» to restore full statehood to J&K. The opposition party also claimed that Prime Minister Modi will face a defeat «many orders of magnitude bigger» than the one he faced on June 4 this year when the Lok Sabha poll results were declared. The intense campaigning for the third and final phase of polling in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections concluded on Sunday evening, with major political parties, particularly the BJP, Congress, NC and PDP, engaging in fierce exchanges over critical issues, including Pakistan, Article 370, terrorism and reservation. Voting for this crucial phase, covering 40 assembly segments across seven districts — Jammu, Udhampur, Samba and Kathua in the Jammu region and Baramulla, Bandipora and Kupwara in north Kashmir — is scheduled for October 1.

Spotlight on Indian visas in race to replace Rishi Sunak as UK Opposition Leader
Rishi Sunak as Conservative Party leader and take his place in the House of Commons as Leader of the Opposition have thrown the spotlight on cutting immigration into the UK, with visas for Indians being singled out in heated debates. Against the backdrop of the launch of the Conservative Party conference in Birmingham on Sunday, former immigration minister Robert Jenrick singled out India as one of the countries that should be subjected to tough visa restrictions across all categories unless it takes back its nationals who enter Britain illegally. His closest contender, shadow housing secretary Kemi Badenoch, has also zeroed in on the same issue and condemned new migrants bringing their disputes from India to cause unrest on the streets of the country. «It is quite clear that there are many people who have recently come to this country who have brought views from their countries of origin that have no place here,» Badenoch told the BBC.

MVA seat-sharing talks to conclude in 10 days; we have to form govt at any cost: Sharad Pawar
NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar on Sunday said the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) will conclude its seat-sharing talks in 8 to 10 days for the upcoming Maharashtra assembly polls and asserted the opposition alliance has to strive to come to power in the state «at any cost».
