Congress used all its energy to establish its own family: PM Modi at Palwal rally
Haryana Assembly Polls, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday continued his consistent attacks against the Congress over SC, ST, OBC reservation, violence against Dalits, the Ayodhya Ram Temple, Jammu and Kashmir, MSP on crops, and more. The Bharatiya Janata Party leader was addressing a rally in Haryana's Palwal. «Congress kept every issue important for the country entangled… Congress did not allow Ram temple to be built in Ayodhya. Congress did not allow the Constitution to be fully implemented in Jammu and Kashmir. They deprived our sisters of reservation in Parliament and Assembly. Congress kept our Muslim sisters entangled in the problem of triple talaq. Congress did not solve the problems of the country and its citizens but instead used all its energy to establish its own family,» PM Modi said at the election campaign. «Today the whole of Haryana has to take a pledge – all those who love India will remain united, we are one and we will vote unitedly for the country. We will unite and vote for the future of our children. We will unite and vote for the safety of our daughters. We will unite and vote for jobs without any expense slips. We will unite and vote for new investments, and new jobs in Haryana. We will unite and vote for good roads and better irrigation,» he added.

High valuations flash warning signs amid uncertain market outlook: Vijayaraghavan Swaminathan
consumption growth, which is another core pillar in the last three-four quarters, I think, we do not see any legs for us to surprise positively as we move ahead, especially when it comes to urban consumption demand drivers are concerned," says Vijayaraghavan Swaminathan, Avendus Spark Institutional Equities. I was quite taken by your note, which actually starts off with the quote saying, I cannot change the direction of the wind, but I can adjust my sails to always reach my destination. We all know the kind of times that we are sitting in, both in terms of the global uncertainties with the changing interest rate regime that you are having, both in the Far East as well as the Far West and, of course, political uncertainties and geopolitical tensions other than that. But when we talk about India, it is really all about valuations, that is the sort of screaming amber light if I can say so. What is it you are making of the market construct right now, especially here in India? Vijayaraghavan Swaminathan: So just to give you the context, from a demand perspective, last three-four quarters, we have been excessively cautious, especially on the consumption factors. This is largely coming from the fact that household balance sheets today, we do not draw enough confidence because of excess leverage, which households are sitting on.

Fiscal deficit in 5 months hits 27% of FY25 target
fiscal deficit in the first five months of 2024-25 stood at 27% of the annual target — lower than 36% a year ago — despite a spurt in August, showed the official data released on Monday. The lower deficit indicates the government remains on track to meet its renewed target of containing the fiscal deficit at 4.9% of gross domestic product (GDP) in 2024-25. The Centre aims to reduce the gap further to less than 4.5% of GDP in 2025-26. The fiscal deficit between April and August touched Rs 4.35 lakh crore, down from Rs 6.43 lakh crore a year before, thanks to a lower gap earlier in the year when the resource mop-up had remained strong while the government spending was constrained by the general elections.

No grudges about being denied ticket, confident will form govt: Ex-Haryana BJP chief Ram Bilas
Ram Bilas Sharma, who is credited with establishing the BJP in Haryana and is now being called the state unit's «vat-vriksha», says he holds no grudges against anybody for being denied a ticket for the assembly polls and will continue to serve the party. The 74-year-old five-time MLA from Mahendragarh and a three-time state minister had filed his nomination for the poll as the BJP delayed the announcement of its nominee till the eleventh hour. But the party convinced him to back out in support of official candidate Kanvar Singh. «I have given more than five decades to the party. (Former prime minister Atal Bihari) Vajpayee ji used to tell me that I have to stick to Haryana and establish the party's base in the state and I continue to do so,» Sharma told PTI in an interview. «Many of my fellow politicians have switched sides but I stayed and will continue to do so. The party might have some reasons to deny me a ticket but I have no grudges,» he said.
