'India's pace of growth is key driver for Radisson': Federico J Gonzalez
Radisson Hotel Group and the chain should aim to have 500 hotels in the country by 2030, its executive vice chairman, Federico J Gonzalez, told ET in an exclusive interview. «India should be our number one country in the world in terms of number of hotels. The economic growth in India is significant. But, besides the economic growth and the growth in population and infrastructure, the ambition and dynamism of Indians is one of a kind,» said Gonzalez. «Everybody you meet here wants to do more and wants to grow. I think when we see that kind of mindset in a country, we need to make sure we maximise the growth,» he said. «Do we have a plan to get to 500 hotels in India by 2030? No. But, should we have the ambition to do this, considering the pace at which India is growing? Absolutely, yes.» Gonzalez said the efforts being put in place by the government to improve infrastructure and government plans to develop 50 tourist destinations can be key growth drivers for the Belgium-headquartered chain. Radisson Hotel Group said on Monday its strategy is to have 240 hotels in operation and under development in India by the end of 2025, driven by a «strategic focus» on tier-two and three markets and the increasing demand for luxury lifestyle and midscale accommodations.

"MS Dhoni came up to me and said....": Ruturaj Gaikwad on how legend approached him for CSK captaincy role
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain Ruturaj Gaikwad opened up on how legendary five-time IPL-winning and World Cup-winning Indian skipper MS Dhoni approached him for captaincy ahead of the previous season and assured him that he will be getting to make his own calls. CSK will be kickstarting their upcoming IPL season against arch-rivals and five-time champions Mumbai Indians (MI) at Chennai on March 23. Last year, under Gaikwad's captaincy, CSK failed to defend their title, finishing at fifth spot with seven wins and seven losses, with 14 points. They missed out on the playoffs spot on basis of net-run-rate. Speaking exclusively on JioHotstar on CSK's leadership transition, the experts and the skipper himself said: Gaikwad said, «Just a week before the tournament last year, MS Dhoni came up to me and said, 'I am not leading this year--you are.' I was taken aback, asking, 'From the first game? Are you sure?' With just a few days to prepare, it was overwhelming. But he assured me, 'This is your team. You make your own decisions. I would not interfere--except when field placements are a 50-50 call. Even then, it is not a compulsion to follow my advice. That trust meant a lot to me.»

Bangladesh situation affects me very much, Muhammad Yunus has long way to go to resolve impasse: Amartya Sen
Amartya Sen said his friend Muhammad Yunus, chief adviser of the neighbouring country's interim government, is taking significant steps but has a long road ahead to resolve the impasse. Sen said the situation in Bangladesh had deeply affected him and he was concerned about how the country would navigate the challenges. In an exclusive interview with PTI at his Santiniketan home in West Bengal's Birbhum district, Sen emphasised that Bangladesh, which has largely kept communal forces like Jamaat in check, should continue its admirable commitment to secularism. «The situation in Bangladesh affects me deeply because I have a strong Bengali sense of identity,» Sen told PTI.
