

IIT Madras gets two extra seats in UG courses for students excelling in national, international Olympiads
Indian Institute of Technology, Madras (IIT-M) on Monday announced the launch of admissions to undergraduate promgrammes for students excelling in the National and International Olympiads. These are competitive examinations that challenge students in several academic subjects and skills.
Termed as ‘Science Olympiad Excellence’ (ScOpE), this admission is outside the JEE (Advanced) Framework and students under this initiative will be admitted from the academic year 2025-2026.
ScOpE is similar to the admissions through Sports Excellence Admissions and Fine Arts and Excellence modes. It will have two two supernumerary seats per programme of which one seat will be exclusively for women students..
The eligibility criteria like passing of Class 12 examinations and age remain the same as that for JEE Advance for the respective year. The candidate also should not have been admitted to an IIT in the previous years. The applications will be open for the first batch from June 3, 2025
Eligibility Criteria
The candidate should be an Indian national (by birth or naturalization) or OCI/PIO candidate whose OCI/PIO card was issued before March 4, 2021. Additionally, in the last 4 years, the candidate must have participated in at least one of the following:
