The total FII selling in this year so far has been at Rs 1,42,616 crore. In January, FPIs sold shares worth Rs 78,027 crore and followed it up with a sell-off amounting to Rs 34,574 crore in February.

Karnataka Cabinet has given its nod for amending the Karnataka Transparency in Public Procurement (KTPP) Act aimed at providing 4 per cent reservation in tenders to Muslim contractors, official sources said. The Cabinet also approved the Karnataka Gram Swaraj and Panchayat Raj (Amendment) Bill, which seeks to provide 'B' khatas to all unauthorised rural properties, similar to the exercise being carried out in urban areas. The bill is expected to cover some 90 lakh rural properties that do not have khatas. According to the sources, the Cabinet discussed a proposal to give 4.24 acres of land belonging to the Agriculture Department in Hebbal for the International Flower Auction Bangalore (IFAB) on a rent-free basis for two years. Discussions were also held on approving financial assistance of Rs 96.77 crore for reconstruction and replacement of equipment at Bangalore Bioinnovation Centre after the January fire incident. The Cabinet discussed measures to reform the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) on Friday, the sources said.

Gensol Engineering’s liquidity mismatch is temporary and its linkages with ride-hailing service BluSmart are being wound down, the founder of both companies told ET amid a crisis that has seen the solar engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) company lose 65% of market value in a month. The crash accelerated after rating agencies ICRA and CARE downgraded Gensol Engineering’s credit rating to default. ICRA cited debtservicing documents submitted by Gensol that it said were “apparently falsified.” This will be investigated, said Anmol Jaggi, Gensol Engineering’s chairman and managing director and cofounder of BluSmart. On Thursday, the company announced a Rs 600 crore fundraise to quell investors’ nerves. “We are working on two areas,” Jaggi told ET. “A committee with independent external experts has been formed to investigate the falsification of documents charge. Neither me nor my brother will sit on that committee. We have announced a fundraise of Rs 600 crore through foreign currency convertible bonds and promoter contribution. We expect liquidity challenges for next the 90 days till when credit rating agencies can review their outlook.” The board has approved a stock split in the ratio of 10:1. The promoters will exercise warrants at Rs 56 apiece for shares with a face value of Re 1 each. That amounts to Rs 560 at the existing face value of Rs 10 per share prior to the split. This is a premium of 113% to the current share price of Rs 262.

Strong economic growth in recent years, a vast and expanding consumer base, greater focus on ease of doing business and a large pool of affordable workers, on top of improved law and order situation, have drawn investors to UP, experts and a state government official said. The national capital’s proximity to Noida, a key industrial centre in UP, also helps draw investors there, the official said, given that real estate costs are lower there than in Delhi.

Experts believe that CPI inflation will be 3.9 per cent in the fourth quarter of FY25 and will average at 4.7 per cent for the entire year. However, looking ahead to FY26, inflation is expected to remain between 4.0 per cent and 4.2 per cent, with core inflation ranging from 4.2 per cent to 4.4 per cent. Given this trend, analysts anticipate at least a 75-basis-point rate cut during this cycle, with back-to-back reductions expected in April and June 2025. Another round of rate cuts could follow in October 2025. «With benign inflation this month and going forward, we expect a cumulative rate cut over the cycle could be at least 75 basis points, with successive rate cuts in next policy April and June 2025. With an intervening gap in Aug'25, the rate cuts cycle could restart from Oct'25, says the report. India's consumer price index (CPI) inflation dropped to a seven-month low of 3.6 per cent in February 2025, mainly due to a sharp decline in food prices.
