World Obesity Day: Doing and eating all the healthy things but still not losing weight? These 'healthy' habits could be blamed
World Obesity Day 2025: Every year on March 4th, World Obesity Day raises awareness about the global obesity epidemic. The World Obesity Federation organises this day to highlight the health risks linked to obesity, such as diabetes, heart disease, and joint problems. The day also promotes healthier lifestyles, public policies, and medical interventions. But some habits people think are healthy can actually cause weight gain. These habits can lead to eating too many calories, metabolic imbalances, and increased cravings. Check if you are also making these mistakes in the name of healthy eating. 1. Choosing food based on labels: Products labeled as low-fat, sugar-free, or diet-friendly often contain added sugars, artificial sweeteners, or preservatives. These ingredients can lead to overeating and increased fat storage, raising the risk of obesity.

Titan shares in focus after Macquarie trims target price, flags impact of gold prices
Titan shares will be in focus on Tuesday after global brokerage firm Macquarie lowered its target price on the stock to Rs 4,000 from Rs 4,150 while maintaining an 'Outperform' rating. Macquarie continues to view Titan as the preferred pick in the consumer space. The brokerage expects rising gold lease costs for smaller players to strengthen Titan’s competitiveness, while concerns over lab-grown diamonds are seen as immaterial. It has also cut FY25-27 EPS estimates by 3-4% due to higher lease costs, partly attributed to Trump’s tariff, and the near-term impact of rising gold prices on jewelry demand.

Hate crimes across major US cities dipped in 2024 election year; details here
Hate crimes reported in big cities across the United States dipped slightly in 2024, unlike previous election years, when such incidents typically are expected to rise. The Crime and Justice Research Alliance reported at least 3,268 hate crimes in 42 major cities, a 2.7 percent decrease from a record high in 2023. Nonetheless, anti-Semitic and anti-Muslim hate crimes have grown despite a general reduction. This surge has been largely linked to the Israel-Hamas conflict.

US government vows to extend tax act set to expire this year; here’s how you can be impacted
Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA), a package of tax reliefs that was voted to law by a Republican-dominated US Congress in 2017 during Donald Trump's first presidency, is set to witness the expiration of its provisions on December 31 this year. House Republicans passed a budget plan last week that lays the groundwork to extend the TCJA. If the plan fails to pass in both the Senate and House of Representatives, and no new act is brought out and approved, the provisions of the TCJA would end on December 31. The introduction of the TCJA was the largest overhaul of US tax codes in more than three decades. The only way for tax breaks under TCJA to continue is by the introduction of a relevant legislation by the Congress to expand or amend the tax cut code.

Asteroid 2024 YR4 going to impact Earth and how much damage could it cause? NASA has the answer
Asteroid 2024 YR4 will dangerously hit Earth in 2032, world's largest space agency NASA has now issued a clarification and confirmed it is not going to ruin our planet. When scientists detected this space rock in December 2024, all the alarms went off. Asteroid 2024 YR4 is classified as a near-Earth asteroid, meaning its orbit brings it close to Earth’s region of the Solar System. Initially estimated to be 130 to 300 feet (40 to 90 meters) wide, it was thought to have a slight chance of impacting Earth on December 22, 2032, when first discovered. However, continued observations through early 2025 led NASA to confirm that 2024 YR4 poses no significant impact risk to Earth in 2032 or in the future.
