Lokayukta police probe: Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah to decide on appeal soon
Siddaramaiah is expected to appeal the Karnataka High Court judgment dismissing his petition challenging the August 16 order of Governor Thawarchand Gehlot permitting investigations against him in the case of allotment of housing plots to his wife in Mysuru. The CM's legal team is working on a response to Sep 24 judgment allowing investigations under Section 17A of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. A lower court on Wednesday ordered investigation by the Lokayukta police into the complaints that his family illegally gained the housing plots. The contention of people close to the CM has been that Siddaramaiah played no role in the allotment of plots by the Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) but has now ended up in a situation of having to face a police investigation.

If elected, will Kamala Harris be the most foul-mouthed president in US history?
Kamala Harris will become the most obnoxious US president in history. It doesn't seem like the Asian Pacific American Institute for Congressional Studies Legislative Summit is the right place for the woman who aspires to be the next head of state to use profanity. However, that is precisely what transpired in May when US Vice President Kamala Harris spoke to a group of young Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders. A few weeks before Joe Biden declared he would not run for reelection, Harris stated that you have to know that sometimes people will open the door for you and leave it open. Sometimes they won't, in which case you have to kick down that door, followed by a cuss word. Her audience at that point in time clapped and laughed, whereas a few decades ago they might have gasped or taken in the expletive silently. Harris later apologized for her language. However, it wasn't the first time the Democratic presidential candidate had used a four-letter word in public, and it won't be the last. The Leader of Opposition in Karnataka Assembly, R Ashoka, demanded the resignation of the Karnataka Chief Minister, and said that the high court itself has called it a scandal instead of any political party. «The High Court has already said it is a scandal, not BJP or anyone else is saying, it is the court. That is why we are demanding the resignation of the CM,» he said.
