Siddaramaiah is expected to appeal the Karnataka High Court judgment dismissing his petition challenging the August 16 order of Governor Thawarchand Gehlot permitting investigations against him in the case of allotment of housing plots to his wife in Mysuru.
The CM's legal team is working on a response to Sep 24 judgment allowing investigations under Section 17A of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. A lower court on Wednesday ordered investigation by the Lokayukta police into the complaints that his family illegally gained the housing plots.
The contention of people close to the CM has been that Siddaramaiah played no role in the allotment of plots by the Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) but has now ended up in a situation of having to face a police investigation.
The complaint pertains to Siddaramaiah’s wife Parvathi being allotted 14 pricey plots in an upscale residential area in Mysuru in return for 3.16 acres of land that MUDA acquired in Kesare village on the city outskirts.
The Lokayukta Police in Mysuru had not registered the FIR on the basis of the lower court's order. It is not known yet if the CM will challenge the FIR or limit his appeal to just the High Court judgment. It was also not known if he would move a division bench or the Supreme Court.
