Luxury car companies keep it cool inside with advanced glass coatings
advanced glass coatings to keep vehicle cabins cool, alleviating the air-conditioning load as summer sweeps India, sending temperatures past 45°C in some cities. The push comes as vehicle sizes, glass surface areas and thermal loads grow with the shift toward larger vehicles such as SUVs and electric models requiring increased battery pack space. With glass typically comprising 25-30% of a vehicle's surface area, and that percentage rising consistently with increased sunroof adoption, moderating the sun’s fierce heat with glazing is becoming critical, car makers said. Over the past few years, average windshield area has increased 8% and total glass surface is up 12% as cars have become bigger, according to Jato Dynamics estimates. Automotive glass suppliers have developed specialised solar-reflective coatings incorporating ultra-thin layers of metal oxides such as silver, zinc and tin. These transparent metallised coatings absorb solar infrared radiation to reduce interior temperatures. Amid rising global temperatures, the role of advanced glass coatings is a must-have solution to beat the searing summer heat. Their widespread adoption aligns with vehicle electrification and enhanced safety features, said experts.

More than 15 centimeters (nearly 6 inches) of rain could fall over the weekend and will probably worsen flooding, according to the Friday afternoon bulletin from Brazil’s national meteorology institute. It said there is also a high likelihood that winds will intensify and water levels rise in the Patos lagoon next to the state capital, Porto Alegre, and the surrounding area.

First 'extreme' solar storm in 20 years brings spectacular auroras
solar storm in more than two decades struck Earth on Friday, triggering spectacular celestial light shows in skies from Tasmania to Britain — and threatening possible disruptions to satellites and power grids as it persists into the weekend. The first of several coronal mass ejections (CMEs) — expulsions of plasma and magnetic fields from the Sun — came just after 1600 GMT, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)'s Space Weather Prediction Center. It was later upgraded to an «extreme» geomagnetic storm — the first since the so-called "Halloween Storms" of October 2003 caused blackouts in Sweden and damaged power infrastructure in South Africa. More CMEs are expected to pummel the planet in the coming days.

Delhi HC asks NBCC to return Rs 76L with interest to homebuyer, awards Rs 5L compensation
Delhi High Court has asked NBCC to refund over 76 lakh along with interest to a homebuyer after it failed to deliver possession of his flat, bought it 2012, and also awarded compensation of Rs 5 lakh for causing «extreme mental agony». Justice Subramonium Prasad, while allowing the homebuyer's petition against NBCC, observed that purchasing a house is one of the most significant investments an individual or a family makes in their lifetime, and it often involves years of savings, meticulous planning and emotional investment, and therefore compensating wronged homebuyers is not just a matter of rectifying past injustices but also about deterring future misconduct. The petitioner, a retired government employee, said he purchased the flat in 'NBCC Green View Apartments', a project launched in 2012 for Gurugram, but in spite of paying the entire sale price of over Rs 76 lakh in 2017, the unit was never handed over to him. In the order passed on May 8, the court observed that the petitioner has been deprived of his money for the last 10 years and «structurally defective houses» have been constructed, leaving him in a complete lurch, and NBCC should be «dealt with severely» for reluctance to pay interest on the amount and ensuring the petitioner's rehabilitation.

PM using 'imagination' in his speeches not speaking on basis of facts: Priyanka Gandhi
Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Wednesday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been «using his imagination a lot» in his speeches of late and not speaking on the basis of facts. Her remarks came a day after Prime Minister Modi claimed the Congress will reverse the Supreme Court verdict on the Ram temple if voted to power just like its landmark 1985 ruling in the Shah Bano case was overturned by the Rajiv Gandhi government as part of the party's appeasement politics. In an exclusive interview with PTI while on the campaign trail in Uttar Pradesh's Rae Bareli from where her brother Rahul Gandhi is contesting the Lok Sabha polls, the Congress general secretary challenged the prime minister to speak on issues of unemployment, price rise and farmers' plight. Asked about her assessment of the ground situation after three rounds of the seven-phase polls, Priyanka Gandhi said, «My assessment is that people are wanting change. Everywhere I go I get the sense that people are fed up now of being lied to, they are fed up with the level of discussion that is taking place in the media and on political stages.»

Buy industrials on dips; top 2 bets in two-wheeler space: Deven Choksey
Deven Choksey, MD, DRChoksey FinServ Pvt. Ltd, says “L&T has a visibility of at least two-and-a-half, three years of order book for execution. The situation is also extremely buoyant for ABB, Siemens where the capital goods segment power play is going on currently. From a business perspective, these companies are very favourably placed, but because the valuations are already fully pricing in FY26 earnings per se, it would be better to buy them when the market gives some correction and opportunity for the margin of safety. Let us begin by discussing this new-age tech vertical itself that we used to talk a lot more about and a lot more often rather than what we have seen of late, the likes of Zomato, Nykaa, PB Fintech, Paytm. What within that looks like an attractive bet right now after the kind of price moves that we have seen? Deven Choksey: I do not think that immediately any of these names become very appealing and attractive to me largely because of the few facts. Leave aside Paytm for a while now because the underlying business model has to get re-established before we have any view on Paytm. However, Zomato is showing a better approach towards revenue collection and becoming more profitable.

Valuations for B-Ds and RIAs soar. Can it last?
Some not-so-fancy math shows that the value of wealth management companies, meaning broker-dealers and registered investment advisors, has risen dramatically in the past seven years, perhaps as much as doubling what a firm could be worth over that period. That means that the financial advisors and various investors who own firms, from small RIAs to giant broker-dealers, are making out like bandits when and if they decide to sell.
