Warren Buffett says AI may be better for scammers than society: he's seen how
Warren Buffett cautioned the tens of thousands of shareholders who packed an arena for his annual meeting that artificial intelligence scams could become «the growth industry of all time.» Doubling down on his cautionary words from last year, Buffett told the throngs he recently came face to face with the downside of AI. And it looked and sounded just like him. Someone made a fake video of Buffett, apparently convincing enough that the so-called Oracle of Omaha himself said he could imagine it tricking him into sending money overseas.

Dortmund, Bayern Munich and the siren song of yesterday
Dortmund must have felt the stirring of some distant memory. Waves of attacks pounded down on Paris Saint-Germain, now dizzied and wearied. The world shimmered with possibility. A place in the Champions League final felt, for a moment, close enough to touch. This is how it used to be, or at least some approximation of it, back in the days when Dortmund made Europe shake. Gregor Kobel, the team's goalkeeper, was pulling off daring turns in his own penalty area. Mats Hummels, a fixture in the lineup a decade ago, was spraying languid passes with the outside of his foot. Jadon Sancho and Karim Adeyemi were electric, relentless. There is a chance, of course, that it will all count for nothing. More than a chance, really: Dortmund may live to regret that a second goal never came. PSG had enough opportunities to hint at its threat, too, hitting the post twice in the space of 10 seconds at one point. It may not prove quite so forgiving in the return leg in Paris on Tuesday.

Bangalore Watch Company tests its apogee wrist watch in Space, prototype travels 35 km into Earth's atmosphere
Bangalore Watch Company has announced it has successfully tested an Apogee wristwatch in Space in pursuit of what it called producing world-class watches that tell stories from modern India. The prototype watch completed a Stratospheric flight by travelling 114,000 feet (35 kilometers) into the Earth’s atmosphere and returned safely to Earth in full working condition, the company said in a press release. “We launched the Apogee collection in 2021 as a celebration of the Indian space program. Since then, the Apogee has taken the moniker of ‘the Indian space watch’. We didn’t want to stop at creating watches that were merely inspired by Space. We wanted to see if we could build them to be qualified and tested for space”, said Mercy Amalraj, co-founder of Bangalore Watch Company.

Amid sizzling India and no rain, why Delhi is still not feeling the heatwave? Here's why
Delhi, known for its scorching summers, has surprisingly remained below 40 degrees Celsius, except for one day, despite severe heatwave conditions gripping parts of the country. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) noted that strong winds and cloudy skies due to five western disturbances in April have kept the temperature in check. Meteorologists attribute the absence of extreme heatwaves in Delhi to these weather patterns, which have prevailed since the third week of April. Kuldeep Srivastava, a scientist at the Regional Weather Forecasting Centre, IMD, explained, «April this year saw five western disturbances. No significant amount of rainfall was recorded due to these western disturbances, but there was cloudiness and strong winds on many days, which prevented a rise in temperature.»

Kazakhstan President calls for measures to counter rising worldwide extremism and terrorism
Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. Kazakhstan has actively advocated at the UN for the condemnation of this inhumane act against civilians. Attempts to exploit international turbulence to promote radical ideologies and incite xenophobia are increasing, Tokayev noted in his recent speech at the Session of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan. Ethno-religious motives are being attributed to the geostrategic ambitions of states, framing them as inter-civilizational conflicts, the Kazakh President pointed out.

Trudeau's remarks illustrated political space given in Canada to separatism, extremism: India
India on Thursday rejected fresh comments by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on the killing of Khalistan separatist Hardeep Singh Nijjar and said the remarks once again illustrated the political space given in Canada to separatism, extremism, and violence. Trudeau addressed a Khalsa Day event in Toronto on Sunday that was attended by some pro-Khalistan people. On the sidelines of the event, he told the media that the killing of Nijjar in British Columbia in June last year created «problem» and that he cannot ignore it, in an apparent reference to his earlier allegations of involvement of Indian agents in the assassination. «PM Trudeau has made such remarks earlier as well. His remarks illustrate once again the political space that has been given in Canada to separatism, extremism, and violence,» external affairs ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said at his weekly media briefing.

OECD revises India's FY25 growth forecast upward to 6.6%
India’s FY25 growth forecast upward to 6.6% from 6.2% projected earlier. “Strong investment and improving business confidence in India are projected to sustain real GDP growth of just over 6½ per cent in both FY25 and FY26, despite relatively sluggish private consumption growth,” OECD said. “Domestic demand will be driven by gross capital formation, particularly in the public sector, with private consumption growth remaining sluggish,” it further added.
