UPS Aware Fighting awards Courts NCLAT allows Sarda Energy to seek tribunal nod for its SKS Power offer
National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) has allowed Sarda Energy & Minerals (SEML) to seek a final clearance from the bankruptcy court for its offer for SKS Power Generation, setting aside the lower court's order in October that had asked the committee of creditors (CoC) to reconsider its decision to award the 600 MW power producer to SEML. In a 51-page order, a two-judge bench comprising NCLAT chairman Ashok Bhushan and Arun Baroka, directed the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) to revive SEML's petition seeking approval for the deal within 60 days. The bench also kept the door open for competing bidders Torrent Power and Vantage Point Asset Management to file fresh appeals if they have new grounds for any challenge. «We have noticed that no opportunity was given to the successful resolution applicant (SEML), resolution professional and CoC… to obviate the delay in disposal of the matter,» the appellate tribunal said. It gave two weeks to SEML, resolution professional (RP) and the CoC to file their reply and other materials before the NCLT.

UPS Fighting Election community rights Shiv Sena infighting: Arvind Sawant faces tough challenge in Mumbai South from faction Rival Yamini Jadhav
Shiv Sena candidate, Arvind Sawant, sprang a surprise by defeating Congress MP Milind Deora from Mumbai South constituency by about 128,000 votes. Sawant was said to be a lightweight, and Deora's defeat came in the backdrop of the «Modi wave». In 2019 Deora was expected to give a tougher fight, but Sawant won again, this time by about 100,000 votes. Deora is now in the Shiv Sena but the party has fielded its Byculla MLA Yamini Jadhav, setting up a contest between the two factions of the erstwhile party, as Sawant is the Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) candidate. The Mumbai South constituency presents a paradox — with tall skyscrapers housing billionaires and millionaires while sharing space with slum dwellers and mill workers who live in 90 square feet and 250 sq ft homes respectively.

Provident MET Fighting Remark rights Uttar Pradesh Lok Sabha Polls: If Congress battle cry is historical link, BJP bets on local factor in Raebareli
voters carry the weight of keeping alive the Gandhi family's last political trace against BJP's relentless efforts to hoist its flag there. In his address here on Sunday, Union minister Amit Shah said if the essence of «400 paar» could be met with one seat, it was Raebareli. The remark underscores the perceptional value this seat carries in BJP's mission to trounce Congress, with Amethi already being vacated for a family 'representative' instead of a member. If Congress is invoking its over 100-year-old ties with the place, right from the time Jawaharlal Nehru provided strength to the non-cooperation movement led by farmers against the British in 1920-21 to Rahul Gandhi calling the place Indira Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi's karmabhoomi and the seminal work done by them for the area, BJP wants to root the fight in a local versus outsider debate, projecting Dinesh Pratap Singh as the one who will be there to address day-to-day woes.
