Shah Rukh Khan starrer 'Jawan' has hit the silver screen with a bang, setting new records and solidifying its status as a blockbuster in the making. The film, directed by Atlee and produced by Gauri Khan, continued its winning streak on the second day, by breaking the box office record of ‘Pathaan’ to become the fastest film to cross the Rs 100 cr milestone. Early estimates suggest that the day 2 domestic collection of 'Jawan' is around Rs 53 crore, bringing the total to around Rs 127.5 crore after just two days, as per sacnik.com. Its first-day box office collection was a staggering Rs 75 crore, setting a new record for Hindi cinema's biggest opening day. While 'Pathaan' too had crossed the Rs 100 crore mark in the same amount of time but its Day 2 box office collection was Rs 123 crores.

In the context of the entire «Conjuring» series, «The Nun II» is expected to land in the middle, surpassing the opening weekends of «Annabelle Comes Home» ($20.3 million), «The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It» ($24 million), and «The Curse of La Llorona» ($26.5 million). It's poised to come close to the opening numbers of «Annabelle: Creation» ($35 million). Tamil actor-director G Marimuthu who was last seen in Rajinikanth's Jailer passed away at the age of 57. The South Indian Artists Association said that the Marimuthu died on Friday following cardiac arrest. He reportedly fell uneasy while dubbing for a Tamil TV serial and was rushed to a hospital.

The film, a semi-autobiographical story of a young boy struggling with the death of his mother, is expected to Miyazaki's swan song. The 82-year-old director, known for works such as «Spirited Away» and «My Neighbor Totoro», did not attend the opening. The Writers Guild of America and the Screen Actors Guild- American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) have been on strike since May over pay and the use of artificial intelligence. «Gonzo Girl» stars Arquette, Camila Morrone and William Dafoe were among the few actors gaining union approval to promote their films. «I am lucky to be here, but a lot of people are unable to attend the festival,» Morrone told Reuters, calling the strike «essential» and stressing that it was important to be resolved. Over 150,000 actors and 65,000 writers across the United States have refused to resume shooting or promote films.
