Tamil actor-director G Marimuthu passed away from a massive heart attack. He was 58.
According to an India Today report, the actor was dubbing for a TV show named ‘Ethir Neechal’ when he suddenly collapsed. The ‘Yuddham Sei’ actor was soon rushed to the hospital in Chennai, where he was declared dead.
Sun Pictures, which produced the Rajinikanth-starrer ‘Jailer’ (which incidentally, was the last film he featured in), dedicated an emotional tribute to the late actor-director. “Condolences! Your work has been impeccable and irreplaceable. Rest in peace.”
Many Tamil netizens took to Twitter to mourn the actor-producer. One paid a loving tribute to the ‘Marudhu’ actor, praising his range and ability to deliver natural performances. “Absolutely shocking..one of the very few character artists who was totally natural on-screen & can improvise on the spot..an ideologist who passed away too early..we will miss you #Marimuthu sir. May his soul rest in peace,” wrote the user.
Another praised the actor’s comic timing and ability to portray anger on screen effectively. “He was a good actor. Sarcastic comedy and angry characters la fit'aana oruthar. RIP sir. Please take care of your health, everyone.”
Tamil actor Shanthnu also mourned the actor’s demise. “Shocking to hear about this. Of late been following a lot of his work. RIP sir. #RIPMarimuthu sir Condolences to his family,” he wrote.
Another fan shared a clip from ‘Jailer’ featuring the actor and wrote, “Still can't get over from That 'Thanjavur Jillakaari' Can't believe this!”
