Digvijaya Singh terms allegations against Congress on Katchatheevu island issue as 'baseless'
Digvijaya Singh on Wednesday termed allegations against the Congress over the Katchatheevu island issue as «baseless». The decades-old territorial and fishing rights dispute around the Katchatheevu island is in the limelight ahead of the Lok Sabha elections with the BJP and the opposition engaged in a war of words over the issue. The island is located between Rameswaram in India and Sri Lanka. In 1974, the then central government accepted Katchatheevu as Sri Lankan territory under the «Indo-Sri Lankan Maritime Agreement.»

TN BJP chief slams Digvijaya Singh, says Congress leaders have no guilt over compromising Katchatheevu
Tamil Nadu BJP chief K Annamalai on Wednesday took strong exception to Congress leader Digvijaya Singh's remark on Katchatheevu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi and demanded an unconditional apology. Accusing the Congress leaders of having «no guilt» for having compromised on our territorial integrity by ceding Katchatheevu to Sri Lanka and for putting the lives of Tamil Nadu fishermen at risk, he said the views expressed by the Congress leaders on the subject only displayed their mindset. «Not a Blade of grass grows there' for Aksai Chin & 'who lives there' for Katchatheevu reflects Congress' mindset,» Annamalai said in a post on 'X' referring to the earlier remark made by former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru on Aksai Chin and now Congress leader Digvijaya SIngh's comments on the islet given to Lanka. Annamalai posted a video of Singh criticising Modi for raising the Katchatheevu issue.

India is a treasure trove of fish; here's why we should be pescatarian!
fish markets, you often see a vendor with a long fish with several diagonal cuts, but not detached from the spine. When she holds it up, the segments splay sideways like a fleshy Christmas decoration. This is karli or wolf herring (Chirocentrus dorab), a fish notorious for its twisty bones. “Everybody agrees that this is a deplorably bony fish, but many regard this disadvantage as outweighed by the good taste of the flesh,” writes Alan Davidson in his 'Seafood of South-East Asia'. This style of cutting helps slide the flesh off the bones. Davidson notes that in Hong Kong, it is used for fish balls. These are among a range of recipes where fish is deboned, usually mixed with a filler like breadcrumbs or mashed potato, and a binder like egg, and then fried, baked or poached.

Some premiers would rather ‘complain’ than make carbon price alternative: Trudeau
Andrew Furey is calling on Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to call an “emergency meeting of leaders from across the country” to talk about potential alternatives to the federal carbon price increasing to $80 per tonne. When asked about the call for a meeting, Trudeau said that provinces have always had the ability to come up with their own alternative plans that include the minimum carbon price.“So, all those premiers that are busy complaining about the price on pollution but not putting forward a concrete alternative that they think would be better for their communities are just playing politics,” Trudeau said at a news conference in Scarborough, Ont.“Every province has the opportunity to put forward its own plan as long as they are fighting climate change to the same level that we’re asking all other Canadians to do. That’s what a federal backstop is.
