Over 1,000 Amrit Bharat trains to be made in coming years: Railway Minister Vaishnaw
Amrit Bharat trains in the coming years and the work to make trains that can run at a speed of 250 kmph was on, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said on Saturday. In an exclusive interview to PTI Videos, Vaishnaw also said the Railways has already started working on the export of Vande Bharat trains and the country should see the first export in the coming five years. While speaking on the transformational initiatives taken by the Railways in the last 10 years of the Narendra Modi government, he said the world's highest railway bridge — Chenab bridge — and the first under-river water tunnel for Kolkata metro are some of the significant technological advancements that happened in the rail sector. «The railways has a huge social obligation. We carry about 700 crore people every year. Two and a half crore practically every day. The fare structure is such that if the cost of carrying a person is Rs 100, we charge Rs 45. So we give 55 per cent discount to every person who travels by railways on an average,» Vaishnaw said.

RJD hopes defectors in Bihar will be disqualified like turncoats in Himachal
RJD on Saturday hailed the disqualification of six Congress MLAs in Himachal Pradesh who had recently crossed over to the BJP and expressed hope that similar action will be taken against turncoats in Bihar. RJD national spokesperson and Rajya Sabha MP Manoj Kumar Jha, whose party has lost five of its MLAs to the state's ruling NDA, made a statement to the effect at a press conference. «The defectors do not make up for two-thirds of the party's total strength in the Bihar Assembly. Their membership of the House, hence, cannot be sustained,» asserted the RJD leader, whose party had 79 MLAs until legislators began walking over to the ruling side in phases. «Turncoats in Himachal Pradesh have been disqualified on the grounds that exist in Bihar too. We urge the Speaker here to take note and take appropriate action. If he does not, we will take legal recourse,» Jha said.

BJP fields candidates without considering their eligibility, commitment to work for people: AAP
AAP on Saturday accused the BJP of fielding candidates without considering their eligibility or commitment to work for the people, citing the saffron party's East Delhi MP Gautam Gambhir's request to relieve him of political duties. Gambhir, the BJP's Lok Sabha MP from East Delhi, has requested party chief JP Nadda to relieve him of his political duties so that he can focus on his upcoming cricket commitments. Addressing a press conference with Kuldeep Kumar — the AAP's candidate from East Delhi for the Lok Sabha polls — senior party leader Atishi claimed that Gambhir's request «revealed» that the BJP was not fielding him in this year's elections. Atishi, a Delhi minister, alleged that Gambhir did nothing in his East Delhi constituency during his five-year term.

An integral part of the conspiracy of the Popular Front of India (PFI) and its cadres was to make India into an Islamic nation by 2047. Abdul Saleem had been on the run since the case came to light and the NIA subsequently declared the reward for his arrest, the spokesperson said. He was nabbed from Mydukur in Andhra Pradesh's Kadappa district following an intelligence-led operation, the official added.
