The left-handed Jaiswal, who made his India debut last year during the tour of the West Indies, achieved the feat in his seventh innings of the ongoing five-match Test series when he took a single off Shoaib Bashir to reach 55 not out during the final session. On a run-making spree, Jaiswal struck two double hundreds in the second and third Tests against England in the ongoing series. The 22-year-old Jaiswal joined Indian batting legends Sunil Gavaskar, Virat Kohli, Rahul Dravid as well as Dilip Sardesai to amass more than 600 runs in a Test series.

Air Mauritius flight were stuck on the aircraft for over five hours at Mumbai airport on Saturday before the airline decided to cancel it, one among the flyers said. The Air Mauritius flight MK 749 from Mumbai to Mauritius was to depart at 4.30 am and passengers boarded the plane from 3.45 am onwards, he said. There were nearly 200 passengers on board, including a 78-year-old man who developed a breathing problem as the aircraft's air-conditioning system was not working, he alleged.

Supreme Court has ordered the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) authorities in Uttar Pradesh to appoint a man, whose selection was cancelled in 2005 for allegedly concealing information about a criminal case against him, as a constable. The apex court noted that when the man had applied for the job on February 12, 2004, there was no criminal case registered or pending against him. However, five days after submitting the application, he got implicated in a criminal case in which he was subsequently acquitted by the trial court in September 2004. «Broad-brushing every non-disclosure as a disqualification will be unjust and the same will tantamount to being completely oblivious to the ground realities obtaining in this great, vast and diverse country,» a bench of justices J K Maheshwari and K V Viswanathan said in its verdict delivered on Thursday.

Mahindra Holidays & Resorts has entered into an agreement with the Andhra Pradesh government for investing Rs 500 crore in the state and is in talks with the governments in Rajasthan, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu and Jammu & Kashmir for investment opportunities, the vacation timeshare company’s top executive said. “We are in active discussions with state governments to see if we can get land parcels or existing resorts. We could also take over and refurbish existing resorts,” managing director and chief executive Kavinder Singh told ET in an interview. “If we have to go from 5,000 to 10,000 keys by 2030, our capex is going to be in the order of Rs 4,000-5,000 crore. We are really strong on our cash position.” The Mahindra Group company has signed memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with Tamil Nadu and Uttarakhand in the past one year for investments worth Rs 1,800 crore to build new resorts.
