The tribunal appointed Madan Bajrang Lal Vaishnawa as the interim resolution professional to conduct the insolvency resolution process. Piyush Jani, the resolution professional for Reward Solutions, had approached the NCLT to initiate insolvency proceedings against Sporta after the company defaulted on its dues of about Rs 7.61 crore.

Canara Bank will soon seek regulatory approval to convert an IT subsidiary into a credit card company as the state-owned lender aims to leverage its existing customer base for selling credit cards with unbridled focus to tap this potential growth market. Managing director K Satyanarayana Raju told ET that the bank is in the advanced stages of submitting an official application with the Reserve Bank of India to start the venture where it will have a 94% stake with Karur Vysya Bank holding the remainder. Canara Bank currently holds 69.14% stake in the subsidiary, Canbank Computer Services. Bank of Baroda owns 18.52% while DBS Bank and Karur Vysya hold 6.17% each. Canara Bank has received commitment from BoB and DBS to buy out their respective stakes.

One 97 Communications, the entity that operates Paytm, on Monday informed the exchanges that independent director Manju Agarwal has resigned from its associate company, Paytm Payments Bank (PPBL). As part of its exchange filing, One 97 said Agarwal resigned from the payments bank on February 1, citing personal commitments, which was noted by the bank’s board on February 6. Agarwal was earlier a deputy managing director at State Bank of India.

The rally has been more pronounced since the company announced its December quarter earnings on Thursday where it reported a consolidated profit after tax (PAT) of Rs 123.50 crore which was up by 53% year-on-year (YoY). PAT margins increased from 11.4% in Q3 FY23 to 14.5% in Q3 FY24, the company filing said.

Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) connecting Delhi and Meerut will commence operations by the end of this year, according to a report of the Times of India. The RRTS will cover the stretch from Jangpura in Delhi to Meerut South, with stops at Sari Kale Khan, New Ashok Nagar, Anand Vihar, Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Guldhar, Duhai, Murad Nagar, Modi Nagar South, and Modi Nagar North. The 17km section from Sahibabad to Duhai Depot has been operational since October last year, and the remaining stretch from Duhai Depot to Meerut South is expected to open in the coming months. According to the report, the Sarai Kale Khan RRTS station will also be connected to the section between Sahibabad and Meerut South by the end of this year. Currently, out of the total 82km Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut corridor, a 17km priority section with five stations has been opened to the public since October 20. The next phase will see the opening of a 25km stretch from Duhai to Meerut South. In Delhi, the RRTS spans 14km, with 9km being elevated and 5km underground. The operation of Namo Bharat trains in stage-III will begin from Sahibabad towards Sarai Kale Khan in Delhi.

Bali is set to implement its new tourism tax from February 14, with officials revealing the final details as the launch date approaches. Confirmed details now include the exemption of seven visitor visa categories from the IDR 150,000 tourism tax fee. While these visa holders won't need to pay the tax, they are required to log in online and apply for an exemption. The exempted visa categories comprise diplomatic and official visas, crew members on transportation vehicles, and holders of temporary or permanent stay permit cards (KITAS and KITAP). Those with family unification visas, student visas, Golden Visas, and business-specific visas are also exempt. Applications for levy exemption must be submitted at least one month before entering Bali. The local tourism authority will then verify and decide on the application within a maximum of five working days, with the decision communicated to tourists through the Love Bali system at lovebali.baliprov.go.id.
