New Delhi: Finnish telecom gear maker Nokia and India’s Telecom Sector Skill Council (TSSC) will train 300 people in 5G, IoT and allied skills at the Nokia Centre of Excellence which was inaugurated at ITI Kubernagar, Gujarat, Monday.   The centre is setting up a skill lab for training of the candidates with the aim of providing placement offers within 4-6 weeks of course completion to at least 70% of learners. NITI Aayog on Monday said 135 million Indians moved out of multidimensional poverty in five years with the proportion of poor in the country down from 24.8% to 14.9% between 2015-16 and 2019-21, on the back of improvements in nutrition, years of schooling, sanitation and subsidised cooking fuel. The UNDP had in its global MPI report, released last week, said 415 million people exited multidimensional poverty in India in 15 years, from 2005-06 to 2019-21, with the incidence of poverty falling from 55.1% in 2005-06 to 16.4% in 2019-21.

Cathie Wood’s ARK Investment Management has written down its stake in Twitter by 47% since Elon Musk took the social-media company private last year, Wood said in an interview. “We take fair valuation very seriously and absolutely have had to write that [Twitter] down," Wood said Friday. “The write-down is not representative of our fundamental outlook and belief in the long-term return on investment we believe that it will have for our shareholders." Wood is still bullish on Twitter’s long-term outlook.

Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) elections were pushed further on Monday with the Gauhati High Court fixing July 28 as the next date for hearing the petition, filed by the Assam Wrestling Association. The WFI elections were to be conducted on July 11 but the Gauhati High Court had stayed the polls, following Assam Wrestling Association's (AWA) plea seeking right to participate in the election process. The state association had claimed that it was entitled to be an affiliated member of the WFI with voting rights but it was denied recognition by the national federation despite its Executive Committee recommending the same on November 15, 2014.

Venture capital firms are continuing to invest less money in the crypto sector, after five consecutive quarters of declines, according to a new report from crypto financial services firm Galaxy Digital.

India's population, escaped poverty in the five years to March 2021, a government report found on Monday.
