Leo Puri resigns as Independent Director of HUL, cites global board commitments
Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL) has announced the resignation of Leo Puri as an Independent Director of the company, effective June 30, 2025. Puri, who has been serving on HUL’s board, has stepped down due to an increase in his board commitments, including his proposed appointment to the board of a global entity. Puri’s resignation is also because of the overboarding criteria for Independent Directors under the European Corporate Governance requirements, the FMCG major confirmed in a regulatory filing on the stock exchanges. With his resignation, Puri will also step down as Chairperson of the Risk Management Committee, ESG Committee, and Independent Committee Puri also holds independent directorships in Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories and Fortis Healthcare. At Dr. Reddy’s, he chairs the Stakeholders Relationship Committee and is a member of the Nomination, Governance, and Compensation Committee, as well as the Science, Technology, and Operations Committee. As recent as December, he was also appointed as the Chairperson of Fortis Healthcare’s board.

Global buyout funds line up for AGS Health
Blackstone, Hillhouse Investment, TPG Capital, and General Atlantic have submitted non-binding bids to acquire AGS Health, valuing the healthcare IT services firm at around $1 billion, said multiple people aware of the development. EQT Partners, the Swedish fund that owns AGS Health, has hired JP Morgan and Bank of America to manage the sale process which will be launched by early next year, ET first reported in September 2024. EQT acquired AGS Health in 2019 for $320 million. Spokespeople at EQT, Blackstone, and General Atlantic declined to comment. Hillhouse and TPG Capital did not respond to email queries.

PB Fintech stock declines nearly 5%
Policybazaar, declined nearly 5% on Wednesday after the company's proposal to infuse Rs 696 crore in its healthcare arm failed to cheer investors. The scrip of PB Fintech tanked 4.70% to close at Rs 1,399.95 apiece on the National Stock Exchange (NSE). On the BSE, it fell 4.44% to settle at Rs 1,404.15 per share. In volume terms, 46.18 lakh equity shares of PB Fintech were traded on the NSE, and 1.23 lakh scrips exchanged hands on the BSE during the day.

Aster DM Healthcare promoters cut share pledge to 41% after refinancing debt
Aster DM Healthcare on Wednesday said its promoters have reduced their share pledge from 99 per cent to 41 per cent after completing a debt refinancing transaction from top-tier global financial institutions. As part of the refinancing process, the new lenders — JP Morgan, HSBC, and Barclays — provided fresh funding, enabling Aster DM Healthcare promoters to refinance its existing loans at better terms as well as loan-to-value, the company said in a statement. «The reduction in Aster's pledged shares is a significant testament to our financial strength as promoters, especially in light of the volatile global market conditions,» Aster DM Healthcare Founder and Chairman Azad Moopen said.

GBS syndrome: Minister says 224 cases reported in Maharashtra
Prataprao Jadhav told the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday. The investigation indicated that the most likely precursor of GBS in the population group is prior infections caused by campylobacter, Jadhav said in a written reply to a question. The Central technical team was deployed on January 2 comprising experts from the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS) and National Institute of Virology (NIV), Pune on site to study the pathogens and outbreak. Majority of cases have been reported from specific clusters in Pune, with additional cases in Nanded, Jadhav said. These areas have been mapped for epidemiological investigation. The study was focused on identifying the exact source of the outbreak, with a thorough examination of water supply systems, sources of water, and other relevant factors, he said. «The investigation indicated that the most likely precursor of GBS in this population group is prior infections caused by Campylobacter,» he stated.

India has world's strongest hiring outlook in June qtr
Corporate hiring sentiments for the June quarter rose three percentage points compared to the January-March 2025 quarter, seven percentage points more than the corresponding quarter last year, and 18 percentage points higher than the global average of 25%, found the latest edition of the ManpowerGroup Employment Outlook Survey shared exclusively with ET. About 55% of 3,150 Indian employers asked about their hiring plans for the June quarter said they would hire more people; 12% expected a decrease in hiring intent or had no plans to backfill; 29% did not expect any change in their workforce, and 4% were unsure. This puts the net employment outlook (NEO) — a bellwether of labour market trends — at 43%, the difference between companies looking to hire and those expecting a fall in headcount or hiring numbers.
