Mohan Yadav on Wednesday launched two programmes to highlight development works of his administration and link more eligible people with welfare schemes. "Jankalyan Parv" (public welfare festival) and "Mukhyamantri Jankalyan Abhiyan" (public welfare campaign) will run on different dates through December-January. «It is a happy coincidence that today, on the occasion of International Gita Jayanti, Jankalyan Parv and Mukhyamantri Jankalyan Abhiyan are being launched. During Janlakyan Parv, which will run from December 11 to 26, foundation stones of several development works will be laid and a number of completed projects will be inaugurated,» Yadav said. The three-time MLA, who was elected the BJP legislature party leader on December 11, 2023, and took oath as CM two days later, was speaking at a function organized at the Motilal Nehru stadium in the state capital Bhopal. During the Jankalyan Abhiyan, which will run from December 11 to January 26, people from poor families, youths, farmers and women, who are eligible to avail benefits of various welfare schemes, will be identified through a survey and linked with these plans, Yadav informed.

Delhi consumer court fined Emami Ltd Rs 15 lakh for deceptive advertising of its Fair and Handsome cream. A man complained the product didn't deliver the promised skin-lightening effect despite using it as directed. He bought the cream in 2013 for Rs 79. The Central Delhi District Consumer Dispute Redressal Commission ruled against Emami on December 9. The forum stated the complainant used the cream according to the instructions: “apply on face and neck twice daily after cleansing for faster glowing fairness.” However, he saw no improvement. Emami argued the complainant didn't prove he used the cream correctly. The forum said there was no evidence to show whether his skin tone changed. The company also claimed factors like diet, exercise, and hygiene affect results. The forum pointed out these conditions weren't on the product packaging. The forum said, “Such robust conditions are not mentioned on the packaging and labelling of the product.” Emami also stated the product was meant for men aged 16-35 who aren't sick, without defining “sick” or including this information on the packaging.

Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin has a provision for people to conduct a «self-survey», the government informed the Lok Sabha on Tuesday. In a written reply, Union Minister of State for Rural Development Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani said the government approved the proposal for implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) for five more years. Approval was also accorded for updating the Awaas+ list for identifying eligible rural households using modified exclusion criteria under the scheme. «In line with the approval of the government of India, a survey is being conducted for the identification of additional eligible rural households under the scheme,» the minister said.

public sector banks (PSBs) stood at Rs 3.16 lakh crore as of September 30, which is 3.09 per cent of the outstanding loans, Parliament was informed on Tuesday. Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary said in the Rajya Sabha that as per provisional data of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), gross NPAs of PSBs and private sector banks as on September 30, 2024 were Rs 3,16,331 crore and Rs 1,34,339 crore, respectively. Further, gross NPAs as percentage of outstanding loan was 3.09 per cent in public sector banks and 1.86 per cent in private sector banks. Chaudhary further said as of March 31, 2024, 580 unique borrowers (excluding individuals and overseas borrowers), each having loan outstanding of more than Rs 50 crore, were classified as wilful defaulters by Scheduled Commercial Banks.

Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan has allegedly received a death threat from an unidentified individual, the JanaSena Party said. The unidentified man made calls to his office and issued threats to «kill» him. The anonymous caller also sent offensive text messages targeting Kalyan, the party said on Monday. «Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan's office staff received threatening calls from Agantakudi. An unidentified person threatened that he (Kalyan) would be killed. He (the anonymous caller) sent messages using offensive language targeting the Deputy Chief Minister,» JanaSena Party posted on X.
