Joker 2 release date: "Joker: Folie À Deux" to premiere this week. How to watch?
Joaquin Phoenix in Arthur Fleck/Joker and Lady Gaga. Directed by Todd Phillips, the film, which is a sequel to Oscars winning film of 2019, will premiere at Venice Film Festival 2024. No matter which side of the “Joker” discourse you were on five years ago, the fact that all involved would bring the sequel back to Venice to play in competition is promising. “Joker: Folie à Deux” doesn’t need the festival buzz, after all. The first film made over $1 billion and was nominated for 11 Oscars. "Joker: Folie à Deux" will premiere on September 4 at Venice Film Festival. The film will be released in theaters across the US on October 4, 2024, and international markets on October 2, 2024.

Erratic weather steals Darjeeling tea’s muscatel flavor, prices plummet
muscatel flavour for which Darjeeling tea is known worldwide has been missing this year due to erratic weather conditions. Tea planters and traders said that Indian consumers are drinking Darjeeling tea which is being sold with muscatel flavour even though there is hardly any presence of the unique flavour in them. In the international markets prices of Darjeeling tea have fallen by up to 50 per cent for the second flush due to the absence of muscatel flavour. Darjeeling tea's muscatel flavour is a unique, sweet, and floral taste that's hard to describe, but prized by tea connoisseurs. Muscatel tea has a musky aroma and a unique muscat-like fruitiness. Some say it has a sweet, floral, and fruity flavour, with notes of raisins and a muscatel finish. Others say it has a medium-bodied taste with notes of nectarines and muscatel grapes. Muscatel tea can be a dark amber colour.

Ashish Kacholia's next bet: Bike ride to Bengaluru airport after ace investor misses flight due to traffic
Ashish Kacholia, who is known for spotting many multibagger stocks, recently took to social media after missing a flight from Bengaluru to Mumbai due to an error in Google Maps. Kacholia said that the mapping application significantly underestimated the travel time from his location in Bengaluru to Kempegowda International Airport (KIA). Kacholia was traveling from HSR Layout, a residential area in Bengaluru, to KIA, a distance of about 55 km. Google Maps, the ace investor said, initially estimated the journey would take around 1 hour and 45 minutes. However, due to Bengaluru’s infamous traffic congestion and unexpected rainfall, the trip extended to three hours, causing Kacholia to miss his flight. A social media user suggested that the ace investor should have asked him to drop him to the airport on his bike. Ashish Kacholia said in jest: «Next time.»

Meet Rubina Francis, the star pistol shooter who won India's fifth medal at the Paris Paralympics
Rubina Francis, a para shooter from Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, secured India's fifth medal at the Paris Paralympics by winning a bronze in the P2 — 10m Air Pistol SH1 event. Francis scored 211.1 to finish third in the eight-woman final after qualifying in the seventh spot earlier in the day. She becomes India's fourth medallist in shooting at the Paris Paralympics, following Avani Lekhara, who won gold, Mona Agarwal, who took bronze, and Manish Narwal, who claimed silver. Born into a lower-middle-class family, Rubina Francis has a leg dysfunction. Her father, Simon Francis, a mechanic, faced financial difficulties while supporting her growing passion for shooting. Rubina’s journey in shooting began in 2015, inspired by her admiration for the Olympic achievements of Gagan Narang. Despite financial obstacles, her determination led her to Pune's Gun for Glory Academy in 2017, with her father’s tireless efforts aiding her progress. Under the mentorship of Jai Prakash Nautiyal, Rubina's talent quickly became evident. This led to her selection at the MP Shooting Academy, where her skills flourished under renowned coach Jaspal Rana, earning her first international medal. A significant turning point in her career came during the 2018 France World Cup, where she realized the importance of securing a Paralympic quota, prompting her to intensify her training efforts.

Nicole Kidman admits filming for erotic romance ‘Babygirl’ left her ‘vulnerable & liberated’
Nicole Kidman revealed that filming for her recent movie ‘Babygirl’ left her unnerved. The actress, who earned a standing ovation for her visceral performance as Romy, an ambitious CEO in a torrid affair with an intern, decades her juniour, admitted that the role required her to step out of her comfort zone and made her feel “exposed and vulnerable.” «This definitely leaves me exposed and vulnerable and frightened and all of those things when it's given to the world, but making it with these people here, it was delicate and intimate and very, very deep,» Nicole Kidman revealed in a media interaction ahead of the premiere of the movie. «Right now we're all a bit nervous,» she added. Above all, Kidman said she felt very “liberated” while shooting for ‘Babygirl’, as it explored not just the intricate politics of employer-subordinate power dynamics, but also delved into women’s desires. “This is one woman’s story, and this is, I hope, a very liberating story. It’s told by a woman, through her gaze – Halina (Reijn) wrote it and she directed it and that’s to me what made it so unique because suddenly I was going to be in the hands of a woman with this material. It was very dear to our shared instincts and very freeing,” she said.

Cash-strapped Dunzo cuts workforce to 50 as it searches frantically for capital
BENGALURU : Reliance Retail-backed Dunzo has laid off 150 employees in a fresh round of layoffs, leaving the e-commerce delivery firm with just 50 employees in its core supply and marketplace teams, two people aware of the development told Mint. The Bengaluru-based firm is looking to claw back profits to pay off liabilities including salaries of current and former employees as well as vendor payments as it scouts for capital to survive, they added, requesting anonymity. In May, Mint reported that Dunzo was in the final stages of closing a funding round of $22-25 million in a mix of equity and debt from a clutch of new and existing investors, attempting to “find safety for the company into perpetuity".

Petition lacks merit: Delhi HC dismisses plea challenging election of Nitish Kumar as JDU President
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar as President of the Janata Dal (United) (JD(U)). The court found no substantial reason to interfere with the election results and deemed the petition to be without merit. This decision upholds Nitish Kumar's position as the party president. The bench of Justice Pushpender Kumar Kaurav in an order passed on August 29, noted that the reliefs sought by the petitioner, fall wholly outside the ambit of the inquiry contemplated under Section 29A of the RP Act. As elucidated in the preceding discussion, the principles established in the case of Sadiq Ali (supra) do not support the reliefs sought in this writ petition.

NASA bumps two astronauts to rescue Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore from ISS
Nasa announced on Friday that it will remove two astronauts from an upcoming SpaceX flight to make space for two astronauts currently stranded at the International Space Station (ISS). Nasa astronauts Zena Cardman and Stephanie Wilson will be removed from the mission but are expected to join future missions. This decision was made considering factors such as spaceflight experience. Nasa’s Nick Hague and Russian astronaut Aleksandr Gorbunov are set to launch aboard a SpaceX rocket to the ISS in September. They will return in February with the astronauts stranded at the ISS, Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore. Williams and Wilmore had originally embarked on a one-week mission aboard Boeing's Starliner since June. However, due to technical problems like helium leaks and thruster malfunctions, their stay on the ISS has been extended.

ICAI central council to discuss proposed changes to auditing standard SA 600 on Sep 17
chartered accountants' apex body ICAI will discuss the changes proposed by regulator NFRA to auditing standard SA 600 on September 17 amid concerns in certain quarters about the suggested updates. Standard on Auditing (SA) 600 broadly pertains to standards applicable in situations where a principal auditor of a company relies on the audit work done by another auditor for a group entity. While the National Financial Reporting Authority (NFRA) has proposed aligning SA 600 with the relevant international standard, ICAI has flagged concerns about the changes as that could result in concentration of audit activities with a few firms, according to ICAI officials in the know. At present, the principal auditor has to give a main audit report and a consolidated statement of the audit works done by other auditors for the group entities.

Essential changes to US' EB-5 Program: What investors need to know
EB-5 Immigrant Investor Program has long served as a gateway to U.S. permanent residency for global investors, offering a unique blend of opportunity and security. In response to evolving economic and regulatory needs, the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has introduced significant reforms aimed at modernizing the program. These updates represent a strategic overhaul designed to enhance transparency, streamline processing, and ensure the program's sustainability. For investors, these changes signal a renewed commitment to efficiency and reliability, reinforcing the EB-5 program's standing as a premier option for securing U.S. residency. Reauthorization of the Regional Center Program One of the most pivotal recent changes in the EB-5 landscape is the reauthorization of the Regional Center Program, reinstated under the EB-5 Reform and Integrity Act (RIA) of 2022. After lapsing in 2021, this program, which allows investors to pool their resources into large-scale projects managed by designated regional centers, has returned with reinforced measures. The reauthorization underscores the program's critical role in providing structured, potentially lower-risk opportunities in the U.S. real estate and infrastructure sectors.
