Dr Lal PathLabs sets sights on big buys to expand in south
Dr Lal PathLabs, India's largest diagnostic chain, is looking at a potentially large acquisition to increase its foothold in south India. If the asset is of a strategic fit, it could look at a deal size of Rs 3,000 crore-Rs 4,000 crore, said a senior company official. «We have around Rs 1,000 crore (net) cash, we can leverage our balance sheet, we can use our equity, size will not hold us,» said Ved Prakash Goel, group CFO, in an interview to ET. «There are people who are there in the market, the (valuation) expectation is high,» Goel said. Dr Lal is typically looking at assets with Rs 300-400 crore revenue, with the right revenue mix, good quality and governance practices. It has formed an M&A team to evaluate potential acquisition opportunities in the market.

No grudges about being denied ticket, confident will form govt: Ex-Haryana BJP chief Ram Bilas
Ram Bilas Sharma, who is credited with establishing the BJP in Haryana and is now being called the state unit's «vat-vriksha», says he holds no grudges against anybody for being denied a ticket for the assembly polls and will continue to serve the party. The 74-year-old five-time MLA from Mahendragarh and a three-time state minister had filed his nomination for the poll as the BJP delayed the announcement of its nominee till the eleventh hour. But the party convinced him to back out in support of official candidate Kanvar Singh. «I have given more than five decades to the party. (Former prime minister Atal Bihari) Vajpayee ji used to tell me that I have to stick to Haryana and establish the party's base in the state and I continue to do so,» Sharma told PTI in an interview. «Many of my fellow politicians have switched sides but I stayed and will continue to do so. The party might have some reasons to deny me a ticket but I have no grudges,» he said.

ESTA 2024: ClaimBuddy wins by easing insurance claims pain for all
This is part of a series of interviews with the winners of The Economic Times Startup Awards 2024. It was during Khet Singh Rajpurohit’s stint at a healthcare startup that he gained firsthand experience of the struggles of patients seeking to settle insurance claims. The cofounder of ClaimBuddy saw numerous cases where individuals had to extend their hospital stays or endure more stress, simply due to delayed or denied claims. During his second year at IIM Bangalore, Rajpurohit reached out to Ajit Patel, his former colleague who was leading insurance operations at the healthcare startup, and the two delved deeper into the complexities and inefficiencies in claim processing. Eventually, they envisioned a solution that would simplify the claims process for patients and healthcare providers alike.
